7 Bits of Feedback for “PotterCast 222: Trailer Park Talk Show”

  1. Lee Says:

    Hi PotterCast,

Really enjoyed this episode, but do you have an episode where you discuss the whole official trailer that was released on June 28 ? You recorded a discussion on it, but you had some technical problems with the “live chat” which led to the podcast being cut off. Are you going to upload a discussion of the official trailer because I’d love to hear it.

    Thanks, Lee.

  2. admin Says:

Hey Lee! Thanks for asking! We did indeed do a show with Melissa and I for the official trailer that was widely watched on Livestream, so much in fact that it did indeed wreck havoc on the playback for most people. The episode is a little disconjointed and does not follow any normal format, but I will put it up this weekend anyhow, either on youtube/itunes or both. :)

Thank You! Love the site, it’s much better. (=

The formal dancing at 8PM at infinitus is some the best fun I ever had at a ball. Too bad you couldn’t enjoy it, but the ball tone shifted later so I dont understand your complaints on one hour of formal ball. You dont really want to hear why I havent danced at the last three balls, there really wasn’t a venue until Infinitus.

I loved the formal dancing Because I could dance to it and it gave us an opportunity to be seen in action in costume, (as compared to shutting the lights down so dark you couldn’t see and then blinding people with spot lights). The formal aspect was also very well organized by the volunteers. (Unlike the after 9 pm ball part that played xmas music of all things..in July..in that heat…not fooling people LOL and planning music that dropped the f-bomb with families present- how classy)

Now if we could mutually agree to hate twitter and make an assumption that all people dont have data service or text- we’d be happy campers in the Forest of Dean.

I challenge anyone to dance in full costume.

Thanks for this post re: the formal ball/dancing. Call me old fashioned (or the opposite?) but it just wasn’t something I was interested in. But do I appreciate that it was available for the people who did want it? Of course! There are loads of different things at every con, and with all the people there with all there varying interests people are bound to like some parts and not others. Pleasing everyone is difficult at conventions – I think it IS possible, just not everyone at the SAME time.

That said, like I said on the show, I think potentially I could be interested in the idea of a formal ball if I could get myself to commit to A: learning how to dance like that, B: acquiring and wearing a formal costume, if not for only just the formal part of the dance (if that is how any future ball would be laid out.)

My only true annoyance at the time was not with anyone who was partaking in the formal dancing, it was simply general impatience and annoyance at how long it took to transition between the formal dancing and the rest of the ball. If I’m not mistaken the room was set up wrong with the dance floor and the speakers being on opposite sides of the hall, and whatever other additional snafus that arose along the way. I mean, that sort of stuff can happen at events of this scale, and the night ended up being a blast, so I don’t have any lingering complaints or annoyance on the night – it was only in that hour or so waiting in the lobby for the thing to start (and then again I can’t say I’m one of the worlds most patient people ;)
