As a literature translator, the drawback to John’s suggestion of sending 1/5 of the manuscript to 5 different translators is that the translators would end up talking to each other to agree on selection of translated terms for consistency throughout the book. It would take twice as long to bring together 5 translated parts – the whole book would have to be reviewed for consistency….yikes…gives me the shivers!
