Today we have a report from the set of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Two long time Harry Potter fans and readers of TLC were able to visit the set at Leavesden where filming is ongoing for the final installment of the Harry Potter film series. While there, they were able to see some of the sets used in past Harry Potter films as well as see the new ones and learn more details about the upcoming Deathly Hallows.
UPDATE ONE
: The full blog post for this has now been removed, sorry folks! UPDATE TWO: Via his official Twitter, actor Tom Felton has indicated that he is “waiting to go on set…all harnessed up (lycra on!) ” The harness is most likely for the dramatic events in the Room of Requirement.

Notable from the report (and as indicated by multiple other sources previously) was confirmation that yes indeed Bill and Fleur’s wedding scenes are being recorded all this week, complete with one of the Weasleys spotted wearing a bandage over his ear and Domhnall Gleeson (Bill Weasley) was seen sporting prosthetic scars on the left side of his face. Exciting too is news that the double for Xenophilius Lovegood was wearing “mustard colored corduroys, a pale shirt with a yellow waist coat over
the top that was covered in flowers and shoulder length blondish-white
hair.”
Also of interest to fans contained in the report are the following:

Scenes with ‘lots of Goblins’ are about to be filmed;

A prop of Aragog is being used as model for bigger larger spiders in DH (presumably for Battle of Hogwarts);

A glimpse of the sculpted bust of Rowena Ravenclaw and the diadem perched atop her head. “Stunningly beautiful detail!”

Photos were seen of Ron turning into Reg Cattermole. The report says “From the looks of
this, they will actually be putting very realistic prosthetic makeup on
Rupert. In the final stage makeup picture of him, you would not
recognize him as Rupert.

Photos and sculptures of Dan’s hexed makeup where he’s hexed to
hide his identity from the Snatchers. This looks amazing! The right
side of his face is all lumpy and deformed. It’s hard to see Dan under
this makeup.

Part of the Seven Potters is being filmed on the Privet Drive set at Leavesden. The report also points out that “from what we were told, it sounded as if they will use makeup on the
actors to make them look like Dan, at least for some part of the scene”.

Grimmauld Place set, currently used as Baker Street for the upcoming Sherlock Holmes film is being repainted for use again in DH.

The Lovegood house set complete with Dirigible plums (bright orange plants) growing outside, is built with a stone base with “the right side of the house pitted with holes where Death Eater spells had hit (squib explosions)” The report also states that “they were prepping the house again for a much bigger version of that
fight, apparently. They were adding even more squibs for the new fight.”

Giant hedges (15 feet tall or more) and two large, stone pillars
flanking either side of the entrance adorn the exterior of one of the Malfoy Manor sets. There is also word that there are white peacocks in the animal section of the set.

There is an Animatronic Hog’s head that is used in front of the pub, with the pub set open for cameras and more from recent filming.

The Room of Requirement filming is also underway, with two doubles recently who “were perched atop one of the stacks of furniture and rigged into a harness.” (probably for the Flight/Fiendfyre squence).

Finally of particular interest is word that there is another new attack sequence, minor and not contained in the book by J.K. Rowling, has been added to the film to showcase the ongoing war. The report says “It appeared to be a bunch of burned trailers / mobile homes.
Apparently in this scene, Harry and Hermione show up at this camp site
only to find that the Death Eaters have already attacked and destroyed
some of the trailers.”

Thanks so much to Chris and Maria for sharing their visit with us!
