James and Oliver Phelps Take Part in 3 Peaks Challenge for Charities
June 14, 2011, 09:20 PM
Actors James and Oliver Phelps, best known for their role as the Weasley twins, recently took part in the Three Peaks Challenge and climbed three mountains in 24 hours.
The twins tackled Ben Nevis in Scotland (4,409 ft), Scafell Pike in England (3,209 ft), and Snowdon in Wales (3,560 ft). They took up the challenge to raise money for two charities: the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) and the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity.
The Phelps' were quoted by MSNBC about the experience, saying:
“The pride and relief was amazing in completing the three peaks and it was a very rewarding experience,” Oliver said after the climb. "My stamina is higher than I thought it could be. The great support that I received from everybody kept me going, so huge thanks go to all."
James said he felt compelled to raise money for the children's hospital after visiting the facility earlier this year. "It is a day I will never forget. Not only did I see how hard-working all of the staff there are, but how amazing the children in there are also. Before I had even left the building I had decided that I wanted to do something to raise a little bit to help rebuild and refurbish the hospital, buy vital equipment and fund pioneering research."
Donations are still being accepted by the twins for their respective charities: Great Ormond Street Hospital
and the RNLI
. Congrats to both James and Oliver for such an amazing accomplishment!

My work is in a field related to healthcare [hospital architecture], and I’ve seen the dedication of the folks who work in places like the ones supported by the twins. They really do deserve our support, so THANK YOU, James & Oliver!
Ahhh, the lovely, sweetest twins!! Congratulations!

Old news .. Twitter know’s everything xD
@Dobby-socks, when you edit your profile there is an option to select an avatar picture. Look at the top of the window where you post your profile information. In fact every time you edit a profile or group you have to select your avatar again, because otherwise it doesn’t stay there.
Congratulations James and Oliver!
What a great way to support these worthwhile charities and do something you will remember forever too, I suspect.
Congratulations James and Oliver and thanks for bringing this to our attention Leaky
An excellent reminder to us all to get out from behind the screen now and then and go do something physically challenging! Not to mention that we all ought to have some charity(ies) that we support, whether financially or by volunteering.
