Thanks much to TLC reader Rachezee, we now have a detailed report from tonight’s test screening of “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.” As mentioned previously, there are details regarding Harry and Ginny’s kiss, as well as new descriptions of Slughorn’s memory and Riddle’s Horcruxes, Weasley Wheezes, Luna and the Quidditch commentary, the new scene written for the movie about the Death Eaters attack on the Burrow, and pivotal and dramatic scenes involving Snape, Draco, Sectumsempra and much much more. Well, WB might have delayed the release of “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” until July of next year, but the promised test screenings of the movie are taking place this month as announced previously by director David Yates. Tonight, one such test screening was held in Chicago and there is a thread ongoing in our forum that contains a report of the film, including a description on the Harry Ginny kiss, Slughorn and more. Previews of the play “Equus” starring actors Dan Radcliffe (Harry Potter) and Richard Griffiths (Uncle Vernon) began last night in New York, with the production to formally open on Broadway September 25. There is a fun and lighthearted new interview online today here via YouTube with actor Alec Hopkins, where he discusses his role as the Young Severus Snape in the Harry Potter films. Confirming he will appear in two scenes in the upcoming Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince for a few seconds (one in a ‘moving painting’), he also says he had filmed a scene as Young Snape for “Order of the Phoenix” ‘driving a car’ but it was later cut for the final version of the film. Actor Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) has been cast in a new film entitled “Wild Target” which will also star actor Bill Nighy and Harry Potter co-star Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix Lestrange). Our Order partner RupertGrint.net is reporting today the comedy/drama is based on the 1993 French film called “Cible Emouvante,” and will possibly film around “London and the Isle of Man” in the UK. Actor Tom Felton, who portrays the character of Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter films, will be participating in Soccer Aid 2008, a charitable sporting event in support of UNICEF on September 7th. Soccer Aid 2008 will take place at Wembley Stadium in London, England and feature a soccer match between teams of well-known athletes and celebrities playing to raise funds and awareness for UNICEF, which aims to protect, help, and support children around the world. Actor David Thewlis (Remus Lupin) attended the premiere of his new film “The Boy in the Striped Pajamas” tonight in Dublin, Ireland. The images keep pouring in, as scans from the UK 2009 “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” are now online courtesy of our Order Partner Rupert Grint.net. In the large scans you can see another shot of Qudditch Ron in action here, as well as a nice scan of Lavender Brown. Today, the Telegraph has a preview piece featuring an excerpt from the foreword that J.K. Rowling wrote for the upcoming book, Harry, A History by TLC's own Melissa Anelli. The piece focuses on how J.K. Rowling "finally cracked," she said, in 2002, and "Googled Harry Potter."

As readers are aware, “The Tales of Beedle the Bard,” the new book for charity by author J.K. Rowling will be published on December 4, 2008. As we draw nearer to the release of the new companion book to the Harry Potter series, retailers have begun their marketing campaign for the book. There are two pieces of news online tonight regarding Harry Potter author J. K. Rowling and honors she recently received. First, the Mythopoeic Society, which is a non-profit agency promoting the study and enjoyment of mythic literature, has chosen Ms. Rowling the winner of its Mythopoeic Fantasy Award for Children’s Literature. This award “honors books for younger readers (from “Young Adults” to picture books for beginning readers), in the tradition of The Hobbit or The Chronicles of Narnia.” J. K. Rowling was chosen by society members for this award which nominates and awards authors for their work annually.

USA Today has an article online discussing the scientific advances in technology that would make it possible for an invisibility cloak object to exist. Once only something of fiction from the Harry Potter novels, the article reports that scientists have created two prototyped materials that bend light, the first of many steps in advancing the technology. The creation of these two materials is an “important step” in creating an invisibly cloak, along with other devices in the future. As readers will remember, Harry Potter author J. K. Rowling wrote an 800-word note card containing a story featuring a young James and Sirius Black for Waterstone’s “What’s Your Story?” charity auction. This Harry Potter prequel was included with the 12 other stories written on postcards for the Waterstone’s auction and published yesterday. The Telegraph is reporting that 10,000 copies were sold on the first day, with many shops running out of copies before lunchtime. Toby Bourne, the head of children’s buying for Waterstone’s, is quoted as saying:

Rowling due December 4 of this year. An update on the construction of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter attraction at Universal Orlando comes today via IOACentral, who has a batch of new images online revealing what looks to be one of the Hogsmeade Shops. The report notes these photos were taken “at a warehouse for one of the companies contracted to do work” on the theme park attraction. There two pieces of news online regarding the “Wizarding World of Harry Potter” theme park currently under construction at Universal in Orlando, Florida. Thanks much to TLC reader Rachezee, we now have a detailed report from tonight’s test screening of “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.” As mentioned previously, there are details regarding Harry and Ginny’s kiss, as well as new descriptions of Slughorn’s memory and Riddle’s Horcruxes, Weasley Wheezes, Luna and the Quidditch commentary, the new scene written for the movie about the Death Eaters attack on the Burrow, and pivotal and dramatic scenes involving Snape, Draco, Sectumsempra and much much more. Well, WB might have delayed the release of “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” until July of next year, but the promised test screenings of the movie are taking place this month as announced previously by director David Yates. Tonight, one such test screening was held in Chicago and there is a thread ongoing in our forum that contains a report of the film, including a description on the Harry Ginny kiss, Slughorn and more. Rupert Grint fan site, IceCreamMan, has scans from a new issue of Teen Magazine which features a brief interviews with actors Dan Radcliffe (Harry Potter), Emma Watson (Hermione Granger) and Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) about working on the “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” film. Previews of the play “Equus” starring actors Dan Radcliffe (Harry Potter) and Richard Griffiths (Uncle Vernon) began last night in New York, with the production to formally open on Broadway September 25. As a reminder and recap for those who are unfamiliar with this play by Peter Shaffer, Playbill.com has an article online which notes:

There is a fun and lighthearted new interview online today here via YouTube with actor Alec Hopkins, where he discusses his role as the Young Severus Snape in the Harry Potter films. Confirming he will appear in two scenes in the upcoming Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince for a few seconds (one in a ‘moving painting’), he also says he had filmed a scene as Young Snape for “Order of the Phoenix” ‘driving a car’ but it was later cut for the final version of the film. Actor Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) has been cast in a new film entitled “Wild Target” which will also star actor Bill Nighy and Harry Potter co-star Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix Lestrange). Our Order partner RupertGrint.net is reporting today the comedy/drama is based on the 1993 French film called “Cible Emouvante,” and will possibly film around “London and the Isle of Man” in the UK. Actor Tom Felton, who portrays the character of Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter films, will be participating in Soccer Aid 2008, a charitable sporting event in support of UNICEF on September 7th. Actor David Thewlis (Remus Lupin) attended the premiere of his new film “The Boy in the Striped Pajamas” tonight in Dublin, Ireland.
