New cast for “Cursed Child” in London

19 years later, the fear that Harry’s son Albus expressed to his father on Platform 9 3/4 is realised: He is sorted into Slytherin. And he chafes in the shadow of his famous father. What happens next plays out in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, written by Jack Thorne and directed by John Tiffany. Cursed Child made its debut at the Palace Theatre in London in 2016. It has since played in theatres around the world, including on Broadway and in San Francisco in the U.S., in Melbourne, Australia, Toronto, Canada, and Hamburg, Germany. It is still running in both New York and London in, unfortunately, a shortened version so you do not get the full experience anymore. More than six million people have seen it. You can book tickets for the London production now through May 19, 2024.

When you go, you will find a new cast playing most of the roles. Harry will now be played by David Ricardo-Pearce, Polly Frame will assume the role of Ginny Potter, and Ellis Rae will play their son Albus Potter. Ron Weasley will continue to be played by Thomas Aldridge but he will have a new wife, so to speak, with Jade Ogugua joining the cast to play Hermione Granger. Taneetrah Porter will play their daughter Rose Granger-Weasley. Draco will be played by Steve John Shepherd, with Harry Acklowe debuting as Scorpius.

Benedict Archer, Jonah Haas, Honor Hastings, Delilah O’Riordan, Jude Parry, with Jojo Perez Hoadley and Isabella Woodman alternating two children’s roles.

Incidentally, Cursed Child will be licensed for school theatrical programs beginning in 2024.
