BBC Radio 4 have cleared 8 hours of their schedule on Boxing Day to make room for a full reading of The Philosophers Stone. Stephen Fry, who reads the British version of the tape will repeat his success. The book will be read in one big chunk between 12.00 and 20.00 GMT. All of Radio 4’s regular programming has been moved to a different frequency for this event. Helen Boaden, controller of Radio 4, said “I would like there to be a generation of children in their 20s who will look back and remember listening to the radio on Boxing Day”.
