More from the KMart Contact about the stills gallery:
The Gallery had beautiful head shots of the major characters in costume- Harry, Ron Hermione, McGonnagal, Dumbledore, Snape, Hagrid, Draco, and Argus Filch. Sorry, no pictures of Quirrell, Madame Pomfrey or any of the ghosts or “Special Effects” Characters.
Filch, eh. Excellent! I hope we’ll see a picture of him soon.
There was a lovely shot of Hagrids Hut tho, with Hagrid seated on the steps playing a flute. (No details visible, but it was a recorder style flute, held vertically, not horizontally.) Fang is laying nearby- He looks like a large dark grey bulldog or sharpei. Sorry I can’t give more detail, but Hagrid was only an inch high in the picture, while Fang was less than half an inch.
Interesting. Fang is called a “boarhound” in the books. A boarhound is actually the ancient relative of a Great Dane.
There was a picture of Harry getting his first lesson on Quiddich. Harry was standing next to the open chest containing the Quiddich Balls. The Quaffle was in the middle, resting in a depression, while on either side a bludger was strapped into place (Only the near one was clearly visible. Harry was in pants, sweater and shirt (No robe) and is holding a bludger bat which is about as long as his forearm, fat and more oval shaped than cylindrical. (Wide in the middle and tapering smoothly towards tip and into handle, not straight in the middle like a baseball bat. It seems to be reinforced with bands of iron. The Bludgers look like cannonballs. The Quaffle is reddish colored, but not bright- closer to the color of a basketball- kind of orangish brown. It was hard to tell, but it might have had indentations or hand grips in it- it was definitely not a plain sphere. The chest was a fancy Camelback chest, like a pirates chest, with things! written and painted inside the lid. In the foreground, on the left of the picture, a boy (Oliver Wood, I bet!) was crouched, his back to the camera, with his hand on the lip of the chest as he explains Quidditch to Harry.
This is great! It gives us a lot more detail from the short snippets we saw from the trailer. Now we know what that scene truly looked like.
Another note on the Charms Class- The wall behind the students is covered with all sorts of writing- It’s not a blackboard- it looks like Graffiti, or maybe its notes about spells- Couldn’t read it in the pictures, but the whole wall is coved with writing.
Neville and Harry were pictured just after Neville incinerates his feather in Charms Class, Both of them looking very singed and sooty- this makes me think that Neville is probably seated next to Harry in the Trailer.
This clears up some confusion about this scene in the teaser trailer. According to the book, Neville tried to pair up with Harry but Seamus was his partner.
There was also a picture of the Boa constrictor making it’s escape from the Zoo. Harry is sprawled on the left side of the picture, sitting half upright, wearing an oversized flannel shirt and baggy khaki colored trousers. The wall behind him is tiled, and there is a railing in front of a picture window style reptile display. The Glass has disappeared, and a VERY large Boa constrictor is leaving the display. Its head and the first portion of it’s body is raised as it addresses Harry- the caption was something along the line of “Brazil, here I come…” No other characters in the picture. The snake looks like it is a sophisticated puppet- probably a good 12 feet long.
Ah…this must be one of the “puppets” from the Jim Henson Creature Shop. Though it’s been said before that Scabbers was animatronic, I’m guessing he is also one of those puppets.
