JKR was named the top of 50 Scots who are “Shaping World Culture”, in a survey published this weekend, and compiled by the critics on staff at The Scotsman.
The paper says that the list represents Scotland’s cultural establishment and profiles those people in the arts world who currently wield influence around the globe, although it takes a “Saltire Society-like approach”, allowing them to include those like English-born JK Rowling, who have made Scotland their home or have strong Scottish connections.
Others on the list are actors Ewan MacGregor, Sean Connery and Alan Cumming, producer Cameron Mackintosh (whose Les Miz is closing in NYC this Spring), and author Irvine Welsh.
