PA News reports that an auction of first editions of the HP books raised £7,000 for chariyy tody. Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire fetched a total of £7,340 with half the proceeds in aid of ActionAid and the BBC’s Children in Need. All were first edition copies signed by JK Rowling – two books were donated by writer and broadcaster Simon Singh and the third by the author herself. PS went for £6,600, the Chamber of Secrets for £500 and the Goblet of Fire was sold for £240 by Woolley and Wallis auctioneers in Salisbury, Wiltshire. Thanks, Victoria, for the tip!
