Australia’s Herald Sun scooped it, and we’ve just got it from our side – actress Emma Thompson will play Sybill Trelawney in Prisoner of Azkaban. (I know at least three TLC editors, myself included, that think this is brilliant). Emma Thompson has a huge and accomplished list of credit; she’s an Emmy winner, a BAFTA winner, a Golden Globe winner and a two-time Oscar winner (for 1995’s Sense and Sensibility and 1992’s Howards End, for which she won Best Actress in a Leading Role). Don’t miss her Beatrice to Kenneth Branagh’s Benedick in Branagh’s version of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing, or her beautiful portrayal of dying cancer patient Vivian Bearing in the TV version of Margaret Edson’s Pulitzer Prize winning play, Wit.
