JK Rowling made a grant of £57,000 to a foundation set up in the name of Catie Hoch, will help fund a full-time specialist at the centre where she was treated,
The Scotland Sunday reports. Catie was a nine year old girl who had a correspondence with JKR before she died in 2000. When she suffered a relapse and had only weeks to live, her mother wrote to Rowling’s publishers about the then unpublished fourth book, Goblet of Fire. The paper writes, that Catie’s mother “was stunned when a personal e-mail arrived from the author, and as her daughter’s condition deteriorated the two began to write regularly, and exchange presents. Then as the little girl had only days to live Rowling rang to read her chapters from the manuscript” of Goblet of Fire.
Thanks to Sue for letting us know about JKR’s wonderful generosity!
