wisharrysmall.jpgTLC is proud to present our interview with Edmund Kern, author of The Wisdom of Harry Potter: What our favorite hero teaches us about moral choices.

Edmund Kern is n Associate Professor of History at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin. He’s also one of the critical Harry Potter thinkers that got Ben Mcintyre of the Times of London a little perturbed right after French intellectuals starting debating the series in Le Monde.

In his book he argues that Harry displays characteristics of a modern-day Stoic: one who values “constancy, endurance, perseverance, self-discipline, reason, solidarity, empathy, and sacrifice.”

We found that the book traced an outline of Harry’s moral path, and gives us a sharper image of the choices Harry would find acceptable and unthinkable, and therefore some hints about what may be in the cards for our hero.
