Tonight film composer John Williams was one of six who received this year’s Kennedy Center Honors in Washington, DC. These awards are presented here in the US as a national recognition of excellence in the arts. John Williams, the prolific composer of many film scores including those of the first three Harry Potter films, was given his award by film director Steven Spielberg, who said “If a director can tell a one-hanky story, John Williams’ scores are guaranteed to make you use the whole Kleenex box.” Congratulations John!
