Have you ever wanted to work for TLC? Now’s the time! Leaky is looking to expand its news-posting team. In this period of movie and book releases, all our editors are working on so much around the Floo Network that we’re running a bit thin, and we’ve decided it’s time to find some more enthusiastic (nuts) news posters to help keep all the other enthusiastic (nuts) fans sated!
If you’re interested, here’s what you do: Send an email to [email protected], with the subject, “Editor Application.” Make sure you include your real name and any relevant experience you feel you would have to offer as a Leaky news editor. The absolutely 100%, most important, can’t-do-this-job-without-it qualification is enthusiasm: for TLC, for Potter, for life, for happiness, for humor, just enthusiasm, and a willingness to work hard.

You must be out of high school to apply – and preference will be given to those out of college as well, but college students are not ruled out if they show they can handle it. This is a qualification we found has served TLC well, as there are times we are all insanely busy and we don’t want to impinge on anyone’s schooling – and trust us, there will be times we will. We also find a higher maturity level helpful. Please also remember these are volunteer positions.

Being a Leaky editor involves:
-Very strong ethics (which we know is hard to gauge on paper)
-Having a nose for news
-Checking e-mail regularly
-Having regular access to the Internet
-The ability to write concisely
-Interviewing skills
-A sense of humor
-Knowledge of online news databases

We’re not listing perks here, because while there are many, we find doing the work itself the best perk, and if you’re looking to join for the perks then you don’t fit the job description. 🙂

You do not have to have reporting experience, per se, though of course it is helpful.

You will also need a strong grasp of the English language, ease with basic HTML and working knowledge of proper grammar.

We’re not sure how many editors we’re taking – probably no more than two, unless more people than that really wow us. Keep in mind that everyone working on TLC now was hand-picked from our readership because they showed such enthusiasm; so if you regularly send us lots of news and are interested, please apply; we will be more than interested to hear from you.

Thanks guys! We can’t wait to bring you some more dedicated Leaksters!
