In an interview discussing the release of the sixth book, Chancellor Gordon Brown said he believes “JK Rowling has done more for literacy around the world than any single human being”, and that the Potter books are are one of “Britain’s Greatest Export”.
Secretary of State for Works and Pensions David Blunkett, also a fan, said that he hopes Hermione and Ron become and item, and that of all the characters, he would most like to be Sirius Black: “He actually was prepared to sacrifice, he went through hell and he was destroyed in a good cause.”
