Previously we told you that J.K. Rowling and her latest book were nominated for the Quill Awards. The winners have been announced, and author J.K. Rowling has won the prize for “Book of the Year” and “Children’s Chapter Book/Middle Grade” for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. From the AP:”You’ve made a sleep-deprived mother very happy,” Rowling, mother of a baby girl, said in a videotaped acceptance speech.” These awards will be broadcast on NBC on October 22nd. Congratulations Jo!
UPDATE: Scholastic has now issued a press release on this and has this additional quote from our favorite author:

“I am thrilled and honored beyond words to receive the first-ever Quill Book of the Year Award. I am still not used to the idea that so many people across the world are intimately familiar with the characters who, for so long, I alone knew. Awards like this, where readers themselves vote, are therefore especially meaningful to me.”
