JIm Dale, voice of the U.S. Harry Potter books, will be honored on Monday, October 30 as part of a Friar’s Club Musical Tribute. Broadway stars including Bebe Neuwirth and Tovah Feldshuh will be among the presenters teasing and toasting Mr. Dale at the event.
The Friar’s Club was founded in 1904 by a group of Press Agents who organized an effort to prevent issue of fraudulent “free passes” to New York’s theatres. It is especially well-known for its Celebrity Roasts, which have skewered such entertainment luminaries as Jack Benny, George Burns, Lucille Ball, Neil Simon, Bruce Willis, Billy Crystal, Whoopi Goldberg and Rob Reiner. Mr. Dale was previously “roasted” by the Friar’s Club in 1981.
