Dan Radcliffe Receives Award Nomination for “Equus” Performance

Harry Potter actor Dan Radcliffe has been nominated for his performance in the play “Equus” from the Whatsonstage UK theater awards. Dan is nominated in the “London Newcomer of the Year” category. Mr. Radcliffe also received mention for those remarkable publicity photos in the AKA Theatre Event of the Year. In addition to these nominations, fellow Harry Potter star Fiona Shaw was nominated for “Best Solo Performance” for her role in “Happy Days” at the NT Lyttelton. Equus was also nominated in the “Best Play Revival” category as was “The Dumb Waiter” which starred actor Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy). “Voting for these awards will open later today to the public via this link, with the awards due to be presented in February of next year. As reported previously, Dan Radcliffe will reprise his role in “Equus” when the play opens here on Broadway in the fall of 2008.
UPDATE: Thanks to reader Bebe for pointing out that Dame Maggie Smith (Professor McGonagall) was also nominated for “Best Actress” for her role in “The Lady from Dubuque” at the Theatre Royal Haymarket. Finally Pam Ferris (Aunt Marge) was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role in “The Entertainer “at the Old Vic. Congratulations Dan, Fiona ,Maggie and Pam!
