UPDATE: Further our report below, This is Gloucestershire is reporting that actors Alan Rickman (Professor Snape), Tom Felton (Draco) and Dame Maggie Smith (Professor McGonagall) are now on set at the Cathedral for filming as well as Dan Radcliffe (Harry Potter) and Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley). The article, which is continuously being updated, now states both Rupert and Alan have been “caught on camera in full make-up”. The paper reports “Two sets of crutches were also spotted arriving at the set – leading to speculation the scenes after Ron falls from his broom in a game of quidditch could be being filmed. It is believed filing will go on until 7pm tonight, and will be finished at the Cathedral by the end of tomorrow. ” You can see a photo of Alan Rickman as Snape here, as well as Rupert Grint as Ron Weasley, here.

UPDATE 3: The BBC has a batch of new photos from the filming today, including new photos of “Half-Blood Prince” director David Yates, James Phelps (Fred Weasley) who is working as a runner on the film as well, new Rupert Grint here and here, local students as extras seen wearing their Hogwarts robes, doubles for Draco Malfoy, Snape and more.

UPDATE 2: Thanks to Oclumencia, we can now see photos of Dan Radcliffe (Harry Potter) arriving on the set as well as larger photos the Alan Rickman photos from earlier today. At this link, you can also see a slide show of some newer photos, including the doubles of some of the actors arriving today as well. You can also see more set preparation photos here via the BBC, which also has this preview article regarding the filming for “Half-Blood Prince.” More when we get it! As always, anyone attending the filming, please send in your report and photos which we will post.

As we reported last week, location filming for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is set to begin today, with the Cloisters of Gloucester Cathedral closed now through February 8. Many cast members including Dan Radcliffe (Harry Potter), Emma Watson (Hermione), Robbie Coltrane (Hagrid), Dame Maggie Smith (Professor McGonagall) are due for this location filming. As such, This is Gloucestershire has launched a new contest for photos of the visiting stars, as the paper notes “Anyone who manages to capture a photo of one of the major cast members should submit a copy of the picture to us – and win themselves £20.” You can find more information about this contest here. In addition, the paper has also added a few new set preparation photos here. Be sure to see the HBP location photos readers have sent us previously here in our galleries, and as always, anyone who attends the filming over the next few days, please send in your reports and photos which we will post.

And Rupert? What about Rupert? He’s not a star? Where is he?

Avatar Image says:

And is Alan Rickman gonna be there too? Please, if you know when they are shooting (day or night or both) write me!! val_erie15@hotmail.com

I’m going there in a bit. I’m so ill but I dragged myself out of bed to go to the Cathedral. The filming starts tomorrow at 8am for the extras. Year 11s and below finish at half 5 and Sixthformers might not finish until 7pm.

My friend got very excited when she was told that they’re providing her with breakfast. But annoyed because they have to hand over their phones for the duration.

I’ve given her a notebook to get autographs for me. Fingers crossed that she gets some!

Dear Daniel Radcliffe

is it true that You Are Just About The Coolest Actor EVEEEEEEEEERRR!!!

As An Emo , Iv’e Noticed

Oh And Im From Crawshaw School By The Way

Avatar Image says:

what about Alan Rickman and Helena Bonham Carter, Helen McCrory and Timothy Spall and some of the rest that arent mentioned mainly these people I just cant wait for the Spinners End scene.

Avatar Image says:

What about the Spinners end people- Alan Rickman, Helena Bonham Carter, Helen McCrory and Timothy Spall- and other people that are not mentioned?

Avatar Image says:

SO SORRY, my computer froze and I dont know what happened in the process- it was being very strange, I gurantee I am not trying to spam anything. Sorry- Im so embarassed.

Avatar Image says:

Darn it, why do I have to have lectures in the next few days. My family live in Gloucester and I’m trying to persuade my sister she needs to go down there, fingers crossed.

Avatar Image says:

Another thing, I was down there last week for a visit, and did see a lot of set up on the roofs of the cloisters, it was all very exciting and I felt like a naughty schoolchild just walking round having a peek.

Avatar Image says:

Am I the only one who thinks it’s kind of cheesy for the paper to encourage people to become paparazzi? (And for only 20 pounds, too, a pittance compared to what celeb photos can go for.) Of course we all want to see pics, but wouldn’t it be more respectful of the actors and crew if they weren’t photographed when trying to work? Just a thought. (Yes, I know there’s a set photographer, but that’s different.)

Avatar Image says:

No Tom Felton?

Avatar Image says:

HAHAHA! That’s just asking for trouble … but hey, I don’t mind some nice cast member shots. SO get out there you UK peps, go get the rest of us some goodies! :D

Avatar Image says:

what the? wheres rupert grint, ay? poor rupert . hay ive been hearing that the-leaky-cauldron.org is closing? i dont beleive it, but just to make sure. some one. whats going on?

Avatar Image says:

We need a special name for covert photographers able to nab set pictures or stars… how about Potterazi?

Avatar Image says:

Holly, I feel the same way, but I’m a photojournalist, so I hate the Paparazzi for giving all of us a bad name. I actually had people ask me if I wanted to be one when I graduated two years ago. Seriously folks. That’s like asking a law student if they want to be an ambulance chaser.

Avatar Image says:

where is my rupert?!

Avatar Image says:

Darn…too bad I live across the pond, so I’m nowhere near Gloucester Cathedral. :( I never get to have any fun in my sleepy Kentucky town.

Avatar Image says:

Yeah, the real paparazzi are loony. I’ve seen them a couple of times since moving to LA and they are a menace to everyone else on the road when they spot a celebrity!

Avatar Image says:

It’s Arthur Weasley’s Birthday today!!!

Avatar Image says:

mollywobble, I meant no disrespect (I have a degree in communications, myself). However, I think you’ll agree there’s a huge difference between a photojournalist on assignment, and some yoyo with a camera disrupting the cast and crew. I was simply saying that the cast and crew of the HP movies has enough on their plate with people constantly trying to get unauthorized photos, that it seems to me encouraging more of that is unnecessary and disrespectful.

Avatar Image says:

Sounds like an interesting competition. I live in a different part of England, so I can’t really enter. Oh well, at least I’ll be able to see everyone else’s pics.

Avatar Image says:

im beccas friend, the one whos going to be an extra

firstly, weve all had to sign confidentiality aggreements so were not lowd to say nything

secondly, were not lowd mobiles on set, or indeed, once weve got out costumes on. were not lowd cameras of any sort

finally, i go to THE HIGH SCHOOL FOR GIRLS there are 12 people from my school who are extras, and we would like to be aknowledges

:D

Avatar Image says:

Holy cow! if I were an extra Alan Rickman would probably have to put a restraining order on me by the time filming was over. Id probably stalk the black sisters too. But unfortunately I live across the pond as well in little old Fargo ND. Nothing like the movie Fargo- garunteed!

Avatar Image says:

Holly, I think you misunderstood. I said I agreed with you. =)

I'm a photojournalist, so I hate the paparazzi because they give a horrible perception of what a photographer is. Since the public hears about the paparazzi all the time, some think every photographer is part of the paparazzi or wants to be one. I still get asked if its my goal to become a paparazzi. I laugh, because to me, it's like asking me if I want to sell my soul to the devil. So yes, I am bothered that the newspaper wants kids to take pictures of celebrities for cash, and not much cash to start with.

Sorry if I confused you and made you feel bad.

Avatar Image says:

The scenes they are filming at Gloucester are not scenes that Rupert and Tom are in. It does not mean they are missing from the picture. I believe it is scenes with only Dan, Emma and Maggie Smith in, this week.

The others appear elsewhere in the film so no one will be missed out. Don’t over react, people! :-)

Avatar Image says:

I miss seeing all the set pictures and actors in costumes like we had for OOTP, maybe they are still coming but news and pics sure have been slim so hopefully whoever does this will get good shots of everyone and everything they can.

Avatar Image says:

@BellaSnape I will really try to get some good pictures. I’ve been 7 times and want to go twice tomorrow and again on Friday. The caravans had arrived for the cast and crew now but I couldn’t see anything.

If I do get pictures, I was thinking of annoying This is Gloucestershire by giving them to Leaky and not them. If I did that, could they then take the pictures for themselves?

Avatar Image says:

Hi again, Mollywobble! Not much of a communications major, am I? lol :P I realized after I posted what you meant. Sorry about misunderstanding! Thanks for being so nice about clearing that up. You didn’t make me feel bad – I made me feel bad (and a wee bit silly!). :P You’re very good natured to be able to laugh at those who would think you’d want to be a paparazzi! :) It is really sad people don’t make the distinction between them and photojournalists. Again, sorry for being a bit thick! Thanks for your patience! :) ~H.

Avatar Image says:

I bet they’ve put Hermione into the scene where Dumbledore dies. I bet she even tries to single handingly save him herself ::rolls eyes::

Avatar Image says:

Yeah, Luna, by jumping on a broom and catching him in mid air. :P

Avatar Image says:

Movie!Hermione can probably fly without a broom because she’s so super special. And the last thing Dumbledore will say before he dies: “You’re the greast witch ever, Miss Granger.” And then she’ll smirk and… Kloves makes this way too easy.

Avatar Image says:

Hmmmm…I wonder what scenes they’re filming that only involve Dan, Emma, Maggie, and Robbie??? Maybe the Hospital scene when after Ron is poisoned? Or maybe another scene. There are alot of scenes with just Harry and Hermoine or just Ron and Harry because Ron and Hermione don’t talk to each other for months in book 6. But whatever, I just can’t wait for the movie to come out and I hope people get some good pictures.

Avatar Image says:

Thanks Becca. I just am really eager to see Snape, Bella and Cissy. And like I said its just really slow with the pics we havent had any good ones since the beginning.

Avatar Image says:

Luna: LOL!

As for no Rupert, I can’t think of any movie scenes that involve those characters but not Ron. I would say they’re probably adding in one of those mooshy gooshy Harry and Hermione scenes they so love. We’ll see though. Hopefully not.

Avatar Image says:

I’m going to strangle Steve Kloves if HBP turns into “The Harry and Hermione Show” under the premise that Ron is supposedly too busy with Lavender off-screen somewhere for half of the film, during which time we are supposed to pity fragile little Hermione. Urgh!

Avatar Image says:

Why is it Rupert always seems to be left out even though it has been mentioned on his own Rupert Grint net that he will almost certainly be there he is a third of the trio and if Dan and Emma get amention why shouldn’t Rupert as I have already met Dan I would very much like the chance to see both Emma & Rupert especially as Gloucester is not too far from where I live.

Avatar Image says:

Why are ya’ll making such a big deal out of the fact that they didn’t mention Rupert???! I mean seriously? YOu don’t know what scenes they’re filming. Obviously it’s not only going to be those 4 actors because they also cast like 175 extras! So who gives a damn if Rupert wasn’t listed, NOBODY! Maybe Sue just forgot to add his name when she wrote that. Rupert will probably be there and so will all the other actors like Matt Lewis and Bonnie Wright. And since when have there every been ANY mooshy Harry and Hermione moments in any of the movies. I sure as hell can’t think of any. All the flirting has always been between Ron and Hermoine and even if it wasn’t it’s not like it’s straying far from the book because unless some of you have forgotten, Ron actually thinks Harry and Hermione are more than friends too! Especially in book 6 and 7! So did Rita Skeeter in book 4 and Cho Chang in book 5. I think that was JKR’s whole point. It’s not just Kloves making stuff up.

Avatar Image says:

I would suggest going very very early, like 6 am when they are setting up. And asking the crew what they are going to shoot that day. Sometimes they also shoot at night. If they need to close off streets or anything they must get permission from the chamber of commerce or whatever, and there should be signs like No Parking.

But the crew must know where and when everything is happening, and when taking a picture would be ok. And tell them it’s a contest and bring the paper with you. There’s a protocol on a movie set.

Extras usually aren’t allowed to take any pictures or bother the actors in any way.

Avatar Image says:

@Iolanthe: I don’t think it’s going to be that hard for them to get pictures because someone got alot of pictures when they were filming the Slughorn scenes. And Michael Gambon and Daniel Radcliffe were signing autographs, so I doubt it will be that hard.

But most of the filming is probably going to be inside the cathedral and i doubt people are just going to be able to walk in and out as they please because they might mess up the sets or something.

Avatar Image says:

Luna, Hermione will probably jump on a branch of the whomping willow and swing over to the astromony tower, grab Dumbledore’s robes and hurl him into the tunnel under the tree, before Snape can cast Avada Kedavra. She’s super strong like that.

Avatar Image says:

I don’t think that’s going to happen. I think Dumbledore is going to die just like he did in the book only a little more dramatic because it is a movie. I think the DA and the order will be fighting the death eaters and i think Harry will run after Snape like he did in the book. Just more dramatic because it is a movie.

And i thought that whomping willow part was cool and entertaining. Alot more entertaining than watching a cat walk up to a tree and put it’s paw on it.

Avatar Image says:

but anyways this topic has nothing to do with the plot of the movies or even you guys favorite topic, Hermione. it has to do with filming beginning at the cathedral.

I personally don’t care about where they’re filming. I just want to see the freakin’ movie. i know it’s going to be awesome, but it doesn’t come out until november so there’s not much to discuss.

Avatar Image says:

“Gosh, I hope there is a lot of kissy, mooshy, gooshy Harry/Hermione stuff because ALL the movies are that way. I mean, they’re SOOOO cuttte and stuff. Squueeeee!”

Rolls eyes….

What movies are you people watching? Hermione the hero…you have read the books, haven’t you? When they film the last one, will you be whinging because it’s, wait for it, Harry and Hermione left to carry on for quite a while because Ron the Whiner took off on his friends? Read the books, watch the films more closely, and for God’s sake, get over your Danemma complex!

Avatar Image says:

I SO HATE IT THAT THERE IS AN OCEAN SEPARATING ME FROM THE CATHEDRAL!!!!!!!!

but what are ya gonna do about it eh? I kind of agree that its a tad bit greedy for the magazine/paper to ask us to become paperazzi for them… I mean its a little much dont you think? But stil,......Im a greedy, HP LOVING FAN!!

Avatar Image says:

@ celia,

Even as I type this, I am getting ready to mail you a sense of humor. When it arrives in your mailbox in a few days’ time, do make use of it, my dear, and then try re-reading Luna’s posts. I think, with your brand spanking new Sense O’ Humor, you’ll finally get the joke, and then maybe you’ll lighten up a bit.

Yours sincerely, Alison

Avatar Image says:

Any news on Bonnie? I haven’t even heard if they’ve kept Ginny in the Quidditch scenes…:-\

Avatar Image says:

@ bebe

see u just made their point… atleast that part was written in the books… u wont see any complaints there… but what kloves has done in the movies is really unnecessary making hermione this super strong person when in the books, she’s just as vulnerable as ron…

Avatar Image says:

I wonder what scene they’re filming. I bet it’s just going to be a bunch of walking in the hall way scenes. and maybe all the hospital scenes because there’s a bunch of those in book 6, because Ron gets poisoned, Harry gets knocked out, and then that scene after dumbledore dies where harry tells them all. I really hope that scene where Harry gets knocked out by MacLaggen is in there cause that’s by far the funniest part in book 6. I love it!

Avatar Image says:

When I went there, there were a lot of men on the roofs so I was wondering whether it was some of the fighting scenes at the end of HBP, there’s a lot of pulleys and strange metal contraptions on the raised wooden platforms that were set up in the courtyard. That’s what I assume.

Avatar Image says:

I’ve been already this morning. There were paparazzi peering over the walls at Kings looking at the caravans and cars and stuff! I don’t think they could see much though.

And there’s just so many vehicles and cables and wires and men looking important in their fluorescant yellow jackets.

At least the cathedral area isn’t closed so you can still walk through but obvs the cloisters are shut.

In the courtyard all the frames and stuff look as if they’re for the cameras and lights. I don’t think they’re doing any action scenes. I still don’t inderstand why they need so many extras though. There’s not enough space for them all!

Avatar Image says:

@becca: That’s why I think it’s probably going to be scenes that involve background people. Like maybe it’s going to be the scene in which Harry and Hermione are talking to Hagrid about what he overheard Snape and Dumbledore arguing about and maybe McGonagall comes up instead of Filch. But they could also be filming the scene after Dumbledore dies. Whatever it is they’re going to film, I doubt it’s one scene and I doubt it’s only from one specific part of the movie. They’re going to film all the scenes that they need the cathedral for. So they could be filming something from the beginning, middle, and end of the movie. I JUST WANT TO SEE PICTURES!! Whew, okay I got that out. I’m fine now.

Avatar Image says:

I bet it’s the scene of Slughorns christmas-party! Ron wasn’t there..

Avatar Image says:

from those pictures Alan sure was there and I heard Maggy and Dan were also there, so far the pictures show a Ron and Draco doubles, those two kids are not Rupert or Tom.

Avatar Image says:

AHHHHHH! Alan is filming! my heart just took a leap of niagra falls, I am excited now I just want to see Bella and Cissy!

Avatar Image says:

Nice pics! I was so excited when I saw Alan Rickman dressed as Snape, meaning they’re filming him! Yay!

Too bad I’m stuck in boring Cleveland, Ohio, and not in Gloucestershire right now.

Avatar Image says:

Snaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaape!!!!!

Avatar Image says:

I’m sorry-perhaps I’m confused-but when did Ron hurt himself playing Quidditch and need crutches in HBP? Yes, I know he was poisoned and in the hospital wing for a while, but why would he need crutches. Perhaps the crutches are for Draco as an excuse not to play Quidditch and to have more time to work on the Vanishing cabinet?? Hmmm…I don’t know…very curious, though…

Avatar Image says:

omg alan rickman photos.thank you very much.im so happy:) are helena bonham carter and dan radcliffe in Gloucestershire

Avatar Image says:

OMG!!!! Professor Snape!!!!

Avatar Image says:

“leading to speculation the scenes after Ron falls from his broom in a game of quidditch ” is that scene on the book¿??

Avatar Image says:

No it’s not in the book. But remember Yates did say that Ron trying out for Quidditch will be very slap-snick and perhaps falling off his broom is a part of the overall scene. Good luck to Rupert, the poor boy looks so tired in the on-set pics that came out today.

Avatar Image says:

Good to know Rickman’s neck survived from Sweeney Todd

Avatar Image says:

Those photos were fantastic! And Snape, giving us a true Snape look. I also loved seeing the doubles of Ron and Draco…can I be a double for Hermione? I look alot like her actually (although I am American) but that’s alright because they don’t talk…it could be my on-screen debut… ok back to work!

Thanks Leaky for keeping us posted on the latest!

Avatar Image says:

Ron on crutches? That seems a little bit silly to me… Can’t Madam Pomfrey mend broken bones in a second?

Avatar Image says:

Thats a good one kickingtelevision. I want to know when Helena and Helen will be there, sorry this sent my OCD into overdrive. Cant help it, already have pills- dont work, could try meditating. LOL

Avatar Image says:

Where is emma isn’t suppose to be filming today aswell?

Avatar Image says:

I MET JAMES PHELPS!

YIPPEEE!

And I got his autograph. :) Well today has been the most brilliant, ever. I’m so happy. I saw so many people, it was crazy!

Avatar Image says:

Great, that big loser Ron can’t even play quidditch without falling from a broom, not to mention madam Pomfrey is so incompetent she can’t even heal few bones. It’s official, I hate Kloves!!!

Avatar Image says:

Does anyone remember the wheel chair that they had for McGonagal while filming OoTP? And we assumed it was for her after the Ministry/Umbridge attacked her. And what?? Nothing, no wheel chair, no McGonagall, no attack. So don’t get too worried about crutches

Avatar Image says:

Aw, James Phelps is so sweet! I met him in May of last year along with Oliver. I’m glad to hear you had a great day Becca! It sounds like you had a lot of fun.

Avatar Image says:

I’m just wondering if Alan Rickman will FINALLY get a costume change for the Spinner’s End scene. Good Lord, his character can’t be wearing his professor robes in the summer at his own house!

Avatar Image says:

Did anyone saw Helena Bonham Carter on the set??? Im just wondering if they put Bellatrix in the final scenes. The papers reported that she will be there so where is she?

Avatar Image says:

Tom Felton! I want photos of Tom(Gloucester) VERY& VERY&VERY

Avatar Image says:

@ MD and Dobby- I agree with both of you- I heard Helena was supposed to be there to maybe she is still fitting into her sexy Black number! And yes Alan might wear something else at his own house- dont know though, probably wouldnt count on it – but who knows.

Avatar Image says:

I would like to say that the crutches were not for Ron.

There were two young boys, playing extras, who were on crutches on there way into the Cathedral in their robes. So the crutches seen were obviously for them to make it seem more real in front of the camera.

I never actually saw Tom :( I only saw his double. The double was hanging around with Alan’s double. It was quite funny. And Ruperts double hung around with Dan’s double. From a distance Ruperts double was really convincing! It got a bit confusing at times.

I didn’t see Helena, nor hear any rumours about her being there. She might be there tomorrow though.

Avatar Image says:

Oh, this is so exciting! Can’t wait for more photos! Alan Rickman looks perfect. I love the contrast between the photos of him with and without the makeup. It is amazing to see Mr. Rickman’s expression change when he has makeup on. He is suddenly SO Snape, not only physically (the makeup artists are doing a great job!), but also inside! Admirable! And I want some photos of Tom!!!!!!!!

Avatar Image says:

didn’t I tell you guys, not to worry too much about crutches LOL? thank you so much Becca!

Avatar Image says:

Alan!!! :) Yay, my favourite HP actor (heck, my favourite actor, period). It’s so awesome to see him, I hope he gets more screen time in the last two films.

Avatar Image says:

I see Tom’s double, but I see no Tom.

I don’t think Kloves is that bad concerning Hermione… Well, er maybe slightly.

I wonder what scene they’re filming. I hoped at first it was after Slughorns Party. (Cuz It has Tom AND Dan in that scene- agh visual perfection!) But that doesn’t really explain the crutches and Ron… The battle? but its dayliight and yet again- the crutches?. huh. ah well goes off to listen to pottercast

Avatar Image says:

Were any of the girl actresses there? Like Emma, Bonnie or Jessie? If not, it just seems to be the boys.

Avatar Image says:

Yeah, I wonder why Emma does not seem to be there…

What is this scene. I am so confused.

Avatar Image says:

“Two sets of crutches were also spotted arriving at the set – leading to speculation the scenes after Ron falls from his broom in a game of quidditch could be being filmed.”

When does Ron fall off his broom in HBP? Ugh. Why do I have the feeling that the improvements in Ron’s movie version will be gone now that Kloves is back.. >.<

Avatar Image says:

“But remember Yates did say that Ron trying out for Quidditch will be very slap-snick and perhaps falling off his broom is a part of the overall scene.”

can you please link me to where he said this? thanks

Avatar Image says:

Yaaaay!!! I’m so excited!!! I’m going to try my best not to stare at these pictures for 5 hours straight, but it’s going to be hard!

@mumm: they probably meant Harry. Ron doesn’t fall off his broom. but i mean if they do add a scene where he does, it won’t be too out of place, Ron is a pretty bad quidditch player. lol.

Avatar Image says:

^ no he’s not, he just lacks faith in himself. He is not slap stick. >.<

Avatar Image says:

Ron is not a bad Quidditch Player. When he believes in his own skills and has some confidence, he bloody fantastic at Keeping.

mumm, it was in the last HBP Sneak Peek: http://youtube.com/watch?v=hLKbadsOmjo

Avatar Image says:

Ron is not a bad Quidditch Player. When he believes in his own skills and has some confidence, he’s bloody fantastic at Keeping.

mumm, it was in the last HBP Sneak Peek: http://youtube.com/watch?v=hLKbadsOmjo

Avatar Image says:

Whatever. I know he’s not bad, bad. He gets good once he gets over his nerves. but quidditch isn’t really a natural talent of his. he doesn’t just get up there and play well he has to try hard, which isn’t a bad thing. but oh well.

I wish Tom Felton had been there. If his stand in is there that means he must be there somewhere!

Avatar Image says:

People quit with the Ron assumptions, and for that matter any assumptions about the film- we will find out when a trailer comes out and then eventually when the film comes out. I can undetstand excitement and jitteryness.

Avatar Image says:

Have any of those self-proclaimed canon experts, who post obsessively about “SuperHermione” and Kloves, managed to identify what scene is being filmed? If you know so much about the books, post something useful for once.

Avatar Image says:

Rickman looks pissed. Or maybe he’s just got his Snape-face on… Maybe Leaky shouldn’t post these if the photographers are in the way of the shoot/ annoying everyone there.

Avatar Image says:

The SuperHermione posts here made me laugh! The only time I don’t like the posts are when the poster(s) seems irate. In this case though, they were quite hilarious. :)

Avatar Image says:

“Maybe Leaky shouldn’t post these if the photographers are in the way of the shoot/ annoying everyone there.”!!! ???? loonymoon, you really mean that? I just want more pictures!!!! I’m so pumped! Still, haven’t you guys noticed that we broke the routine of always getting pictures of Hagrid’s hut being re-built as the first pictures of the film production?

Avatar Image says:

This pictures are amazing..but i wish they had pictures of the rest of the cast instead of doubles.

Avatar Image says:

Is it just me, or does the frock coat look a bit snug about Alan Rickman’s waist? Maybe they should make it more comfortable for him.

Avatar Image says:

quite agree with you lucia, we need to see more action so there is not some much assumption, we need to see Emma, Helena, Helen – the real Tom, and alot more, and this is off subject but didnt they say that a trailer would come out soon- sorry getting my hopes up- this has me pumped too!

Avatar Image says:

LOL – I think my husband I had a little too much to eat by the look of his costume – should go to the gym honey! , and he always has that look on his face- but I quite agree its his ” Snape look.”

Avatar Image says:

Has anyone else noticed that Snape’s hair (Alan’s black wig) looks longer in these pics on the HPB set?? I love it!!!! :) I always thought it was too short before – I’d love to see it really long!!! :)

Avatar Image says:

Yes, it’s definitely longer! It was longer in Order of the Phoenix, too! I always thought it was a little too short in the earlier films (only to his chin instead of his shoulders). I love it long!

Avatar Image says:

Ron is “a bloody fantasic Keeper”?

Um, no. As much as I like Ron, it’s really overstating things to say that he’s “bloody fantastic” at Quidditch. Even after he overcomes his confidence problem, his skills are hit and miss. He has moments of brilliance, yes, but most of the time he appears to be good-but-not-great. There’s nothing to suggest that he’s on the same level as Oliver Wood, or Harry, or even Ginny (who must have been damn good, since she became a pro player).

That was all a very longwinded way of saying that I’ve no problem with some (SOME, not all) of Ron’s Quidditch scenes being slapstick. It’s not incompatible with the books. So bring on clumsy-at-Quidditch-Ron!

Avatar Image says:

who is Snape’s stand-in? He’s hot!!!

Avatar Image says:

“Yes, it’s definitely longer! It was longer in Order of the Phoenix, too! I always thought it was a little too short in the earlier films (only to his chin instead of his shoulders). I love it long!” Posted by Sindie on February 08, 2008 @ 12:23 AM

Hi Sindie – glad you agree with me that it looks great long! It’s even longer here than it was in Phoenix! :) And check out the Snape double – his looks even longer! LOL I wonder if the longer wig was Alan’s idea or the director’s – whosever idea it was, I love them!!! :)

Avatar Image says:

So now you guys want emma to be there?? hmmmm…i’m confused, don’t you guys hate her?

But whatever, Snape’s stand in looks like that guy who played teenage Snape in movie 5 during that Occlumency scene, but i could be wrong. I think Ron’s stand-in is pretty darn cute. He actually looks like Rupert.

Avatar Image says:

Geez, celia, is anyone allowed to criticize or worry about ANY aspect of these movies without you getting all huffy and self-righteous about it? People are allowed to dislike the Super!Hermione angle of the movies, even if it doesn’t bother YOU. And even though it obviously pisses you off to no end, people are even allowed to dislike Emma Watson’s acting, whether you like it or not. Personal attacks on Emma are low and uncalled for, I agree, but there’s nothing wrong with criticizing her performances, or in poking fun at the way she is presented in the movies. You don’t have to agree with the people who are criticizing, but that doesn’t mean they can’t express their opinions and/or frustration with the way Hermione has been presented in the films.

I don’t dislike Emma at all: she seems like a very sweet girl, and I thought she was great in the first two films. In the last three, however… not so much. And I intensely dislike movie!Hermione, because she isn’t the Hermione of the books; movie!Hermione is a Mary Sue, imo, and I frankly loathe her. I’m not going to ignore that, nor am I going to hold back from complaining about it, just because you don’t want to hear an opinion about Emma or movie!Hermione that doesn’t agree with your own.

I actually kind of like movie Hermione better then book Hermione.

@Emma Kelly: Okay whatever you say. i wasn’t upset at all. i know it’s hard to tell by just my writing, but that last post of mine was oozing with sarcasm. although it IS true. they complain that Emma is mentioned and rupert isn’t but then when emma or any of the female actors aren’t pictured in any of the pictures they start wondering where they are. I mean seriously make up your mind. Personally i don’t give a damn if anyone likes emma or likes hermione or is in lurrrrvv with Snape. i just don’t really care. at all.

this forum just annoys me sometimes because you guys can turn the most exciting news and most positive news into something negative and somehow, someHOW it always ends up on Emma or Hermione or how much Ron is misrepresented in the movies or how much Steve Kloves sucks. I mean seriously, it’s freakin’ annoying. And personally i don’t give a crap whether you dislike hermione or not, that’s your own opinion you can hate her all you want i really don’t care. There are tons of characters in JKR’s books to love, so obviously hermione isn’t going to be everyone’s favorite. even i know that. but that doesn’t mean you have to complain about it every time you post because “frankly!” some of us (or maybe just me) are tired of hearing about it.

Now I can’t wait for this movie to come out!! It needs to hurry up! I can’t wait any longer and I’m tired of them teasing us with all these freakin’ sneak peeks and pictures!

I agree with celia. Why are people debating about Emma and Hermione here when she isn’t even in the news?

Avatar Image says:

It’s really exciting that we have only 9 months to wait for the next film! It seems like no time compared to the long wait for Ootp and DH. November, a birthday treat for me!

I can see that filmHermione’s not as soft or insecure as she should be, but I don’t have much of a problem with it. I was never actually much of a bookHermione fan either. I found her quite annoying, uber..wise and super..brainy compared to everyone in her year, even Ravenclaws!, which I just don’t get because James Potter’s year seemed to have at least 4 near geniuses! ... James, Sirius, Sev ‘n’ Lil (I LOVE that couple :D !) and must have had a few from Ravenclaw too.

Until DH. For the first time in that book I absolutely ADORED Hermione (and HATED selfish, petulant Ron for the first time too). So I hope that film does their characters justice.

Interesting how James Phelps and Matthew Lewis do work behind the scenes, too. They’re good on camera, but it’s always wise to have a secondary position when the acting parts don’t come in.

“Hi Sindie – glad you agree with me that it looks great long! It’s even longer here than it was in Phoenix! :) And check out the Snape double – his looks even longer! LOL I wonder if the longer wig was Alan’s idea or the director’s – whosever idea it was, I love them!!! :)”

Hi there, Janine! Yes, it does look longer now that you mention it, and Snape’s double looks young, too! Maybe the director was trying to be more canon. In HBP, it specifically describe’s Snape’s hair as “long,” not just “shoulder-length,” so it could be even longer than his shoulders. LOL! I’m so silly for obsessing over this, but I LOVE long hair!

Hey Sindie – not silly at all! LOL Many of us obsessed Alan/Snape fans have said all along that we wished his hair was longer! (And on a side note, many HP fans are really turned off by Harry’s short hair lately – what are they thinking? I guess that’s the way Dan likes it, but yuk. Wizards in a fantasy world should have long hair!

Anyway, everyone should write to the studio & tell them we love Snape's new hair & want it even longer in DH!!!! LOL On second thought, I probably wouldn't survive seeing it past his shoulders - it would just be too much for my poor li'l heart! LOL But oh gosh, wouldn't that be soooooooooooo wonderful!!!!!!!! (Then I'd really never get any work done - I'd be watching the darn movie over & over again when it comes out on DVD - even more that I do the ones that are out now!!!! LOL!!!)

Note: I’m repeating the last paragraph of my above comment here – somehow its formatting got messed up when it posted.

I think Snape’s hair was a little shorter in movie 5, so that’s probably why it looks longer. But Rupert aka Ron has definitely gotten a hair cut. His hair looks a lot shorter than it did last summer when he was promoting the 5th film.

Personally i kinda miss Dan’s long hair. i thought he looked soooo cute with long, curly hair. but he still looks good with short hair.

Dan is really attractive, so he can pull off any type of hair, but I liked it longer, too. It should be like it was in PoA… Harry’s hair needs to be messy, and it’s not messy at all in OotP because it’s too short.

Rupert’s hair was hanging in his eyes, so he should keep it trimmed out of his face, at least. He goes a long time without getting a haircut and then gets it chopped! LOL

As for Snape’s wig, I think it was shorter in the front and longer in the back in OotP (kind of layered), but it looks longer all around in HBP. :) Janine, that would be so awesome if Snape’s hair were longer in DH, but it’ll probably be to his shoulders. I’m going to draw a pic of him with it longer! Ha!

Hi celia! sindie thinks it was longer in Phoenix than in the previous films & so did I – now I’m confused – I’ll have to go back & check the movie. LOL

Anyway, check out the pics on the HBP set posted here & click to enlarge them – are you seeing all of them? His hair is touching his shoulders – it sure looks longer to me than it ever has! :-)

“It’s not incompatible with the books.”

Yes it is. Ron is not a slap stick character in the books, not even when it comes to quidditch. So it is incompatible with the books. Not that the movie versions of these characters have anhthing in common with their canon counterparts, anyway…
