We have several pieces of news regarding Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince today, including yet more rumors on the long awaited teaser trailer and more.
First, scores of readers let us know about this very small photo that has now surfaced online, showing a different angle of the previously officially released photo of the trio in the common room. While this new photo is small indeed, you can see more of the students sitting in the room.
This photo first surfaced on this site, curiously posted by the person who revealed the earlier photo of what seems to be Harry looking in a filing cabinet from Half-Blood Prince, and who has now apparently posted something that is claimed to be the teaser poster.UPDATE: Thanks much to WB for confirming that yes indeed, that poster is FAKE. We have also received many reports from readers of that site and elsewhere the teaser trailer for HBP will now be shown in front of Get Smart, when that film is released on June 20. Other reports are coming to TLC saying the international trailer will be released in front of the new Batman film, The Dark Knight when that opens in July. While we are as anxious as you for the teaser trailer, please note that all of this is very much unconfirmed, and should remain firmly in the RUMOR category the time being. We have contacted WB to find out more about this new photo, trailer dates and more, and will update of course as soon as we can.
oh my gosh, i really hope that this rumor is true!!! It’s not fair, Twilight is coming out in DECEMBER and they already have a trailer AND a movie poster out!!! HBP is coming out in november and we probably won’t have a trailer or poster for another month!!!! PLEASE, PLEASE, WB give us the teaser in June!!!
What a schocker that the poster is fake! Did any really think that that was real. I can’t wait to see how this director screw up Dumbledore death. As the movie trailer is concern, it will be released with Wallie(That new Disney movie that comes out in June) I know this to be a fact!
It seems to me that since Deathly Hallow’s came out none of the sites, TLC included, seem to have the same excitement. There are NO count downs, NO wigets, it all just seemed to stop.
There’s no way that the trailer will come out with WALL-E, first, that movie is rated G and HBP will be PG-13, second, Disney is WB’s competitor. Get Smart and Dark Night seem about right.
ummm….remember Happy Feet with OOTP? They almost always put the trailer with a child’s movie, not a teen, a child. Remember Scooby-Doo for Chamber of secrets and the Loony Toons movie for POA?
Those people comparing the publicity campaigns for Twilight and HBP are trying to compare apples and oranges. Twilight is the first movie based on novels that have only been around a couple of years and is still building a fanbase. It has it’s initial book fans and those people who are just starting to hear about it through the publicity for the movie, just as happened with the first HP film.
HBP is the sixth film in the most successful film franchise ever, based on a series of books that have been around for over a decade and has both a rabid book fanbase and a fanbase that came to the series via the movies.
You are always going to get earlier publicity and more of a push for the first film in a series that does not yet have an inbuilt fanbase for the films, rather than the books.
This time WB were clearly waiting for filming to finish before they started the major promotion for HBP. In fact I have a feeling the teaser for OOTP didn’t come out until they had finished filming either.
They have a built in fanbase, as shown by everybody showing their frustration here. They don’t need to hype it 9 months ahead. Business-wise it makes sense to put more of their emphasis at the moment on to the franchise they restarted recently (Batman) and a possible new comic franchise (Get Smart). Helping promote Get Smart by putting the HBP trailer with it would make a lot of sense.
I think these twp posters are great! It hypes up the fact that this movie is about Dumbledore and Harry’s quest. The movie companies do leak out things on purpose, you know. It wouldn’t be the first time they’ve denied something when it was true. Mr Blood (or something) was right about how the WB doesn’t have to pay out money for advertising because the fans are on it already. Didn’t you all read that comment by that WB employee who admitted that they don’t have to do anything anymore because the fans are there? It was pretty recent- i think it was in an article about narnia, i think. At least these posters are better than that one they had with the trio’s faces – now that was lame. This abounds in mystery. As for someone saying the lake was in a cave, didn’t they dive off a cliff or something? I seem to remember wondering how/if Gambon would do it. Also, i would expect them to put the trailor in front of a WB production, not with any other companies, as everyone knows that would just add to the other companies coffers.

Let’s just be patient, eh, folks? I remember the OOTP footage we saw really kind of ruined some of the parts in the film, ‘cause I’d already seen them, so I think it’s a cool idea they’re keeping more secret.
I reckon the poster is fake but I don’t see how the common room picture can be fake.
They’ve only just finished filming so I guess they have to edit the pictures and stuff before they’re released, but I do remember there were pictures coming out quite early on for Ootp.

I keep thinking it’ll be out the next day and then the next so when I hear it’ll be out next month or even JULY I get really annoyed! But at least knowing when it’ll be would be nice! I don’t usually get this annoyed about it but it’s just too early in the morning for me LOL
