A bit of theater news tonight as Playbill is reporting that actress Kate Mulgrew has joined the cast of “Equus” which will open on Broadway this fall, starring Dan Radcliffe and Richard Griffiths. Kate Mulgrew is no stranger to the stage, having appeared in such productions as Titus Andronicus and the acclaimed Tea at Five. Kate is also familiar to many for her turn in films and television show such as the long-running Ryan’s Hope soap opera, but she is perhaps known more widely to readers for her recent turn as Captain Kathryn Janeway on the popular Star Trek: Voyager series.

The play “Equus” which met with such success last year for its run in London, is set to begin previews here in New York on September 25, and will have a 22 week run until February of next year. As noted many times previously, Dan Radcliffe (Harry Potter) and Richard Griffiths (Uncle Vernon) are set to reprise their roles in this production, however demand for tickets to these shows is quite high and are selling out quickly. If you are interested in attending, tickets for the production of Equus on Broadway are available via this link.

I can see it now the jealous Dan Fans came tearing into this article, foaming at the mouth and searching desperately to see who this woman is. Then sighing with relief when they notice she is neither blond nor young enough or Daniel to be interested in. How amusing XD

Is she playing the mother or the colleague? Either way, the mother in the British production was extremely awful, so this is wonderful news.

Recent, you call 1994-2001 recent? Anyway it’s good to see that the broadway version has some recognisable faces for the american audience. I mean Dan is well known troughout the world but I doubt many americans will care about Richard Griffiths.

Back in the UK they’re doing hamlet with Captian Picard and Doctor Who. Even better the english dub of the Hayao Miyazaki: Nausicaa has Captian Picard, Admiral Adama and Luke Skywalker in it more than enough to make any scifi fan pee in their pants.
