I had planned to post this a few days before the movie opened, but I had some quite severe technical problems. But they’re all sorted now. Just thought you’d like to know why this talks as if I hadn’t seen the movie yet, ’cause when I wrote this, I hadn’t! Hope you enjoy!

This will be my first time seeing a Harry Potter movie at the theater when it first opens. When I first got into the Potter world, it was right after “Order of the Phoenix,” had been released. I was actually able to catch that one at the dollar theater. It was neat to see Harry, Ron, and Hermione on the big screen instead of on my little one! I thought I would give you a quick rundown of a newbie’s thought on her first movie opening!
Well, I guess to start off with i will talk about how crazy just getting a trailer is! This excitment I had every time we got a new trailer was off the roof! I would watch it again and again and I would try to get my friends and family to watch it, just so I could have someone to talk to about it!
At first when I found out that the movie had been moved back, i’ll admit that I wasn’t very happy. I texted all the people I knew who might even have a slight interest in Harry and they were all taken aback and very confused as to why. But after a short while, I actually became happy about it. The reason is that I came into Harry so late that I only have a relatively short time in this fandom to experience these kind of things and the longer they last, the longer I will have. I am hopeful that this fandom will last long after the last movie comes out though. It has too! I have too many wonderful fellow fans to meet and too many fandomy things to do!
So now, with the move of the movie all sorted and trailer having been viewed many times, what’s next? Preparation for the opening night of course! The first thought that came into my head was, “Who am I going to make go to the midnight opening with me?” I have few friends that are into Potter, but none as much as I am. Thus, I was afraid I would have to go it alone, which i would have done if necessary! Fortunately, I have found a group to go with and hopefully my cousin as well! So the place, time, and companions are all figured out now.
One thing left on my mind is what to wear? Now, coming into the fandom when I did, I have to tell you that I was hard-pressed to find any cheap Harry clothing. Now, thankfully, I have a few items but I wanted something really special for the midnight release and so I am planning to make myself (or rather, have a very skilled aunt help [and by help I mean do most of it because she does far better work that me!]) a set of robes! I am most excited about taking on this little project and hoping that it will be done by July 14th so that I may wear them! Super excited about this, super!
So this is where I am presently at. Two ongoing preperations for the movie are working on my robes, and of course reading the series again so that I will have a fresh take on what all happens with The Half-Blood Prince! I wonder now how many times I’ll actually go see the movie. I seem to be gathering a few peopl who, as the movie draws nearer, requests that I go see it with them, which I am more than happy to oblige!
I’m so excited to see this movie that every time I think about actually sitting there for the first time, watching my heroes, my friends on that big screen I want to squee!!! And many times I do! It comforts me to know, that although I don’t know all my fellow Potter fans, we will all be in the same place come 12:01 a.m. on July 15th, all sitting in a crowded theater, the air electric with excitement, awaiting that wonderful melody that gives me chills.
Let me know what you’ll be doing in preparation for the big night.
We will all be together, sharing some well deserved quality time with our Harry.
