It’s been a busy week for the Harry Potter cast. This evening, a number of actors from the Harry Potter films attended the Philips BAFTA Television Awards 2010, which took place at the London Palladium. You can find an album of the red carpet arrivals and the events of the night as the ceremony unfolded in our Leaky Galleries, via this link. Additionally, the BAFTA website has a red carpet fashion feature with pictures of Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix Lestrange) and Julie Walters (Molly Weasley) which you can find at this link.
Julie Walters won a BAFTA for the Best Actress in a Leading Role; the Molly Weasley actress was nominated twice in the Leading Actress category and ultimately received the award for Channel 4’s “Mo”, a 2009 docudrama in which Walters portrayed the late British Labour politician Mo Mowlam. A video of Walters’ acceptance speech can be found here on the BAFTA YouTube channel, where you can also find a video of Walters on the red carpet.
Helena Bonham Carter was nominated alongside Walters in the Leading Actress category for her role in BBC Four’s “Enid,” a biopic about the life of Famous Five and Noddy author Enid Blyton.
Kenneth Branagh (Gilderoy Lockhart) won the BAFTA for the Best Actor in a Leading Role. The actor was honoured for his part in BBC One’s “Wallander.” John Hurt (Mr. Ollivander) and Brendan Gleeson (“Mad-Eye” Moody) were nominated in the same category for their respective roles in “An Englishman in New York” and “Into The Storm.”
Stephen Fry – narrator of the British Harry Potter audiobooks – and Dolores Umbridge actress Imelda Staunton were also nominated in other categories. A full list of the winners and nominees for the Philips BAFTA Television Awards 2010 can be found here on the BAFTA website.
In other news, Alan Rickman (Severus Snape) and Miranda Richardson (Rita Skeeter) attended the closing celebration for Marina Abramovic’s “The Artist is Present” show. The event took place at New York’s Museum of Modern Art and you can find photos of the actors from the event here in our galleries.
Our Order Partner RupertGrint.net has a link to the newly released “Wild Target” cinema poster. The poster can now be seen on display in a number of cinemas in the UK; alternatively, you can find the poster here at RupertGrint.net. “Wild Target” stars Bill Nighy (Rufus Scrimgeour) and Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) and will be released on the 18th of June in the UK.
Incidentally, Bill Nighy also appeared on the most recently broadcast episode of “Doctor Who”. Nighy appears as a tour guide at an exhibition of Vincent van Gogh’s artwork. The episode, titled “Vincent and the Doctor,” is now available to UK residents on BBC iPlayer and will be shown on BBC America in the coming weeks. Update: Pictures from the episode are now available here in our galleries.
Lastly, Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley) has appeared in Grazia magazine sporting a Louis Vuitton “Leo” scarf. Photographer Phill Taylor, who shot the feature, has a scan of the photo here on his blog. Wright also talks briefly about her outfit and colour choices:
When it comes to summer dressing, I like creams and whites. So I chose this beige and soft pink to lighten up a darker outfit – like my maxidress and wooden heels.
