“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1” Receives Two Oscar Nominations

Early this morning in Los Angeles, California the final nominees for the 83rd Academy Awards were announced, giving two nods to the “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part One” film. As noted on the Oscar website, the first part of the final Harry Potter film received nominations in the Best Art Direction and Achievement in Visual Effects categories. In the Art Direction category, “Deathly Hallows” is up against “Alice in Wonderland,” “Inception,” “The King’s Speech,” and “True Grit;” while “Alice in Wonderland,” “Hearafter,” “Inception,” and “Iron Man 2” stand against DH in the Achievement in Visual Effects race.

On a related note, actress Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix Lestrange) received a nomination in the Best Supporting Actress category for her role in “The King’s Speech.” The full list of Oscar nominations can be read via this link.

The 83rd Academy Awards will be broadcast February 27 on ABC.
