The AP is reporting that Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) will receive the Trevor Project‘s Hero Award at a ceremony in New York City this June.
Radcliffe has been a strong supporter of the Trevor Project for the past couple of years, an organization “for suicide prevention efforts among gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered youths.”
In response to the announcement, Radcliffe told the AP:
“It’s fantastic. The fact that they think of what I’ve done by promoting awareness of the Trevor Project itself and the issues that it works to promote and help is a great honor.”
The Trevor Hero Award is presented to individuals who have served as an inspiration and increased visibility and understanding of the LGBTQ community. Past recipients include Vanessa Williams, Nathan Lane, and screenwriter Dustin Lance Black.
