Rita Skeeter Writing Contest

August’s contest
was suggested in our Brainstorming for
Ideas thread by Kneazel Tamer,
who will receive a handcrafted wand by Wizard Wood Wands. We continue to
welcome suggestions for future contests.

The career of Rita Skeeter, special reporter for the Daily Prophet,
has taken a turn for the worse. One of her recent articles contained
some shocking (and untrue) remarks concerning the character of the
current Minister for Magic. Kingsley Shacklebolt is a very popular
Minister, and although he himself laughed off the insults, Rita’s
popularity took a nose-dive. The Daily Prophet‘s editors, while not
wanting to lose Rita’s talent (nor to suffer the effects of her venomous
quill if they sacked her), thought it might be best to reduce her
visibility somewhat. She has, accordingly, been given the relatively
harmless (or so they hope) role of Wedding Reporter. Her first
assignment, much to her chagrin, is to cover the wedding of Ms. Luna
Lovegood to Mr. Rolf Scamander. For August’s contest, we invite you to
submit the article you think Rita would write about this wedding.

General Rules:

Anyone
13 years of age and over may enter the contest, including staff members
who are not involved in the judging process.
• One entry per
  person.
• All submissions must be the original work of a
  single contestant. Any entries found to contain the work of another
  author will be disqualified.
• All entries must meet PG-13
  standards of decency and good taste.
• All decisions by the
  judges are final.
• The first place winner will receive a
  handcrafted wand (design changes each month) and a copy of the book The Practitioners Guide to Wand Magic by William C.
  Wilson, both donated by Wizard Wood Wands, as well as 200
  MyLeaky points.
• Please refer to our FAQ if

Contest Rules:

Write
the article you believe Rita Skeeter would write for the Daily
Prophet about the wedding of Luna Lovegood and Rolf Scamander.
• Articles
  must be no more than 350 words in length.
• All submissions
  must be e-mailed to [email protected] by 11:59 pm (EDT) on
  31 August, with “Rita Skeeter article” in the subject line of the
  e-mail.
• Please copy-paste your article into the body of the
  e-mail and include a name to be used for authorship. You may use your
  real name or your Leaky Lounge name.
