Experience “Deathly Hallows: Part 2″ in 3D IMAX: Have you seen it?

On the heels of news that the complete set of eight Harry Potter films will to be released in this fantastic packaging in November, we will all get to see the whole series– and especially Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallow: Part 2– on our DVD, Blu-ray, or computer. Before the last Potter film leaves theaters, however, we wanted to pose the question to readers whether they will watch the film again (or for the first time) in IMAX before watching again at home? It’s a breathtaking experience to see this installment of the series in IMAX. Something unforgettable happens when the supreme IMAX audio presentation is paired with the kind of detail seen in 3D on the massive IMAX screens.
If you’ve already experienced the film in IMAX 3D, share your thoughts with us below! To find out more information about the IMAX 3D experience, and to see where it’s still playing near you, click here!

Avatar Imagealexweasley12 says: first comment ! cant wait !!!Avatar Imagemlwl says: Granted, the theater I just went to was bologna, but it was SO MUCH BETTER in IMAX 3D. It was an entirely different movie. I would pay to see it a third time just to have my last experience with Potter in the theater be a great one.Avatar Imagetaz_uk says: I watched it in 2D the first time as I've never been convinced by 3D and all the other films had been in 2D and it seemed right to finish the series the same way. When we went again a couple of days later the IMAX 3D was the next showing so we went to that. It was amazing seeing the film on such a massive screen and for the first time I could see the possibilities of 3D (and not in a sticking-out way). I've heard the normal 3D version is very dark on a lot of screens so I'd be unlikely to bother watching that, but I'd definitely recommend the IMAX version if you can see it. Avatar Imagemiss molly says: Went to day to a 4:30 IMAX show and the theater was still more than half full. This was my second time watching it in IMAX 3D. I have also seen it once in 2D and once in regular 3D. The IMAX is incredibly clear and beautiful. The first shot of Shell Cottage is just striking. I never watch IMAX or any 3D because the price is high and I have glasses which get in the way but for HP I decided to give it a try. What I like about HP 3D is that it was not that-hey lets just make anything fly out at the audience because we used 3D it was just a subtle layering that looked incredible. Avatar ImageJavier J says: Are they paying you fansites to promote IMAX 3D? Cause they have the same post in mugglenet Avatar ImageKessalia19 says: Yeah we saw it in 3D opening night, because regular tickets were sold out. I am not a fan of 3D (plus the glasses sometimes give me a headache), it seems like a gimmicky fad--that's not even new. Some parts were kind of cool looking in 3D, but not worth the extra price.Avatar Imagehpfanaticfan2011 says: For me, the second time I saw it (out of 5) in theaters was IMAX 3D. It was pretty freaking awesome! The only thing about IMAX theaters is that if they aren't relatively new, the glasses are pretty used and warped. My IMAX theater's glasses have gotten kind of faded aroudn the edges of the lenses and tinted; so, when we look at the screen, it is already darker than normal, and having the edges faded, it makes it even more dark. Still an awesome experience though! Everyone should see it in IMAX at least once. I've seen it a total of 5 times already...probably won't see it again unless it plays at the dollar theater at my school.Avatar Imagehermy007 says: i want to try seeing it in 3D tomorrow, the three other times i went i saw it in 2D....even if its a rip-off at least i can say i tried it. :D i would LOVE to see it in IMAX but its just so pricey...and the nearest IMAX theater is about 1 1/2 away. ah well. :(Avatar ImageLunaLuver says: I am dying to see Part 2 in IMAX!!! I better look into when the movie'll be leaving theaters, not soon I hope. I'll try and get to IMAX in the next couple weeks. I'm seeing it again tomorrow in 2D. :) Avatar ImageWON_TWO says: I would like to, but there are no theaters near enough to me...Avatar Imagephoenixfeather08 says: i liked it in 3d, it was the first 3d movie i have seen. what a great way to start the 3d experience than with the final potter!Avatar ImageMawuko Batse says: Saw it again today in IMAX 3-D. Really worth it. Humongous screen, very clear sound. Big crowd today, too, impressive. Avatar Imagegraziboi says: Really wish I could :[Avatar ImageAmberMV says: Saw it in IMAX at the Midnight Showing. It. Was. AWESOMEAvatar ImageThinkblue559 says: Honestly it was really worth paying the extra money to see it in IMAX. The sound was incredible. The 3D was done just right. Avatar ImageSorceress25 says: I had never seen any of the Potter films in IMAX and I felt for the last movie, i had to see it IMAX....even if it was just once...It was absolutely amazing and I would definitely pay the extra money to see it in IMAX again. I definitely want to see it again...even though i've seen it half a dozen times....Avatar Imagerbpenn says: I wouldn't have seen it any other way. The 3D was good, but really didn't add much to the film. The IMAX format and the sheer size of the screen (not to mention the usually vastly improved comfort of the theaters) on the other hand are worth every penny. I took my wife to see it a few days later on a regular screen (she can't see the 3D right) and it was like watching the thing on my phone, the screen seemed so tiny by comparison. I would see it several more times if money were no object.Avatar ImageFleur-de- Lily says: it cool.Avatar ImageHarry-Potter.fan says: I haven't seen it IMAX, I really need too! because I'll never see it IMAX again, but I did see it at midnight which is good :DAvatar ImageEeyore says: I have already seen DH2 twice in a regular theater. And I'll likely see it at least one more time before they are done. But I wear glasses and the 3D glasses just don't fit comfortably over my own so the whole thing makes me a little queasy. I can look at 3D stuff for about a half hour at most - the length of a 3D show at Disneyland. Even then, one or two times was more than enough. Even things on an IMAX screen are a bit too much. I just don't like it.Avatar Imagesue1308 says: Seen it seven times by now (7 is the magic number, right?), of which three times were in IMAX 3D. Seeing it on a large screen did enhance the experience (esp. the statues coming to life), but I was just as happy seeing it in 2D - especially as I'm wearing glasses myself and 3D glasses are very often too small to cover my own. Avatar Imageahaque521 says: i saw it in 2d midnite premiere!! i didnt c it in IMAX but i rele wanna!!Avatar Imagewandmastercalum says: I can barey afford to go a second time to see a normal showing. Sigh being a fan of Harry Potter would be more enjoyable if I was rich :DAvatar Imagehoras1 says: I watched Part 2 in IMAX. Only one time does it look different. Lets just use the word Dragon. I was very saddened by the use and effect of 3D on the picture itself. Blu-Ray would have been just as good. It does not really add anything to the picture, Yes, and I even have a 3D TV. If its so good in IMAX then release it in 3D Blu-Ray. The reason is people would quickly that it adds nothing, but costs more. I wish it did. At this point it works with animation great. Avatar was basicly that. Saddly the process does not really work on a human picture yet. If it did you would have 3D Blu-ray movies in stores by the score. Go see it anyway its their best movie yet and you get basicly higher defination. I have an 80 inch screen bring it on. Horas1 Avatar Imagegirlatty1 says: It depends on the theater. Here in NY one IMAX is far better than the other.Avatar ImageHogwartsForever says: No IMAX theatrtes here, but I would be interested in seeing it.Avatar ImageMatea says: Yep, it seems to me as well WB is paying all to do this. Oh come on, Potter already made so much money. I will definitely not see it again in 3D IMAX, I went the first time and I kinda regret it. It was NOT an 3D IMAX movie,so...yes, the sound and the big screen is impressive but nothing more than that.. Avatar Imagegardener 51 says: Saw it the first week. The special effects were "BRILLIANT". The acting was incredible. I just wish that it followed the book more and used more of the original sets.Avatar Imageselenialovegood says: It was amazing in 3D! I have seen it twice, and I'm going to watch it a third time on Wednesday, and can't wait!! It's really amazing, though you can really fog up the glasses(you know what I mean)! It's so amazing it looks real and like 3d at the same time, and it's not messy. One of the best 3d movies I have seen! Breathtaking! Very good, and it's very emotional to watch the movie, with the special effects, scenery, music, sound effects and everything!Avatar Imageizziewitch says: Agree the IMAX huge screen is terrific, but the 3D definitely wasn't worth the extra cost. I too wear glasses, so putting another pair over the first is annoying and not really comfortable. Loved the size of the screen though. Have seen it three times in 2D and that was just fine with me. Would keep going but I think 4 times is enough! Will wait for the pre-Xmas DVD release, hopefully.Avatar Imageizziewitch says: And yes, WB must be pushing the fan websites to mention this. Why? They've certainly made enough money!Avatar ImageAceba says: I've seen it in IMAX 3D, and it was totally worth the extra money! :0)Avatar Imagetibby71 says: I saw it in IMAX 3D and it was really awesome. The movie would be awesome in 2D as well, but with 3D, the big screen and all that stuff, it's magical.Avatar ImageMawuko Batse says: Not saving the whales here, they make movies to make a buck, that's what they do, so get over it. But back to the actual topic, you've got Potter on a 90 x 70 foot screen, great sound, and nice audience excitement because of the general atmoshphere of the theatre, so what's not to like. It's a blast. Enjoy it while you can!! Avatar ImageAtb says: This newspost screams paid advertisement to me (doon't know wether it is :)). Just the way it is written, eulogizing IMAX 3D. Personally, I liked the normal 2D version more. IMAX is okay, although I never miss it when I view it without IMAX. The 3D part bugs me the most at a lot of films. I'm not against 3D, but it just doesn't add much to the experience to me. For most movies in 3D, it's just a way to ask more money... With Avatar it really added to the whole experience, but with films like Captain America, Harry Potter DH2 etc etc I didn't see the extra appeal. :)Avatar ImageAtb says: Ah, I see it is advertisement (like other people noted before me). Should've been professional to mention that imo. :).Avatar Imageronandharrylover says: i saw it on the premiere and let me tell you it was AMAZING. it was as if ron and harry and all the charecters everyone loves(and hates) were coming right out at you. at one point i put my hands out and felt as if i were holding harry potter, lemme tell you it was amazing. sure its more expensive but this is the last movie. i also saw it without 3d and it was still really good but defintly better in 3d!Avatar Imageronandharrylover says: i saw it on the premiere and let me tell you it was AMAZING. it was as if ron and harry and all the charecters everyone loves(and hates) were coming right out at you. at one point i put my hands out and felt as if i were holding harry potter, lemme tell you it was amazing. sure its more expensive but this is the last movie. i also saw it without 3d and it was still really good but defintly better in 3d!Avatar Imagehandhrfan18 says: i saw it in imax on the midnight showing! it was honestly amazing and worth to pay the extra money. The new harry potter styled glasses made me feel i was part of the movie and our crowd was huge! At the end there is a little 3D action when harry defeats voldemort and the little patches of his skin come out at you and that was rlly cool to see :3. I loved the picture quality and it was really HD :DAvatar ImageEgor says: I thought that it was very very strange that they weren't consistent with wether portraits were 3D or not. Some of them were and some of them were not. I always imagined them being 2D, so it was very strange seeing the ones that were in 3D. The 3D did help out the battle scenes though — to make them feel a bit larger. In 2D they felt absolutely minuscule, and in 3D they still didn't seem anywhere near as large as the book made them feel, though it was slightly better. I think the idea of moving the battle to the courtyard was the main thing making it feel so small. In the book there's fighting over the entire grounds and castle, while the movies made it feel like it was just that one courtyard (which they enlarged, because they wanted to put the whole battle there) and a few small skirmishes throughout the castle. But I've gotten mostly off the topic of the 3D aspect of the film, so I'll shut up now.Avatar Imagekyrstalkris says: I saw it in IMAX 3D at midnight and I LOVED IT! Is was like extra, extra, extra, EXTRA, high definition and it made appreciate the film more! I was sitting in the corner so I didn't get the 3D view, but it was definetely an unforgettable moment! (:Avatar ImageI love my Spectra Specs says: ..since when does Leaky post advertisements as news..?Avatar Imagesirius33 says: I've been to the movie twice (once in 2D and once in IMAX 3D) and the imax was amazing! the 3D was great, and seeing it on that huge screen was awesome!Avatar Imagesamira.rahman3 says: I was so crazy tht i actually went to another country only 2 watch it in 3D!!! as it hasn't been released in Bangladesh. I watched it in Bangkok Siam Paragon...tht is a heck of a cineplex! Everywhere i c Harry Potter decorations were there!! n 2 watch it on 3d was like a dream come true as it was da first n last time i ever saw HP on big screen! So it was indeed a perfect ending 4 me! my eyes became tearful whn snape died, whn snape was embracing lily's dead body, even whn voldemort died! coz tht was da scene whn it hit me tht finally voldmrt's dead tht means HP has cum to an end! thnk god i was wearing 3d glasses so no1 actually saw my watery eyes! i wud luv 2 c it again on 3d!i really wish tht the theatres will continue playing HP 4 the next few years..so tht i can again watch it whnever i want! Luv ya HP!Avatar Imagesamira.rahman3 says: @handhrfan18...yes i also felt the little patches of Voldemort''s skin..they were like bits of paper...i could literally feel it...i wanted to catch them so much! Avatar Imagewhitemudfounder says: IMAX advertisement? I thought leaky was better than that.Avatar Imagemoonstone nox says: I'll see it tomorrow in 3D at 10.00 pm. I't the last time it 'll be played in 3D in theatres in Belgium... and i'll be there!!Avatar Imagechanngalambeatrice says: I became a Harry Potter fan a year before Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix movie was out, so it was the first Harry Potter movie I watched in theatre and I watched it in IMAX. From then on, I watch every Harry Potter movies in IMAX, and sometimes in normal theatres. Although IMAX tickets are more expensive (almost twice as much as the normal ones), I think it worths it. IMAX 3D is crystal clear, and even scenes that are very dark can be seen clearly. The screen is large, and the hi-fi is really good. Watching Harry potter films in IMAX adds excitement to the experience. That's why I always start checking the IMAX website a month or two before the film is out as I want to buy the middlest seat in the last row- the best seat. ;)))))Avatar Imagecopepodlvr says: have seen the movie 6 times - twice in IMAX - that was by far my favorite version, eve though it gets fuzzy at times. It is just so great to be able to explore the beautifully rich sets on the huge screen. Worth. It.!!Avatar Imagepurpleowl says: I saw it the first time in 2D. My niece saw it opening night in 3D. We went to 3D IMAX together. We both thought it was really awesome in IMAX 3D. I was surprised at how muc better she liked the IMAX experience vs. regular 3D.Avatar Imageiamnotworriedharry says: I thought it was wonderful in IMAX. My daughter and I saw it at a mall IMAX and then went to one at the MN Zoo which is much bigger. It was really amazing on the bigger IMAX. I personally don't think the 3D is that amazing in this film (not like the DD/ Voldy fight in OOTP), but it does add to the magical feeling. It felt just a little less magical when I saw it in 2D, but my daughter and I both had trouble with the 3D glasses getting in the way of our sobbing! Bring your tissues so you can dry your eyes and glasses! I am glad I saw it in IMAX. Avatar ImageStephPotter says: YES I HAVE SEEN IT and I cried the whole time XD That was the BEST movie I have ever seen and will probrolly be the most awesome movie i will EVER see <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 Avatar ImageHPMonkey4 says: I'm hoping to see the final film in IMAX sometime before it is too late, but I can't quite yet since the nearest location for it is too far away. :-) Maybe I'll see it at Universal Studios when I go to the celebration in November. Avatar Imageazaadpotter says: Saw it just two days ago. It was the most supermegafoxyawesomest experience i ever hadAvatar ImageGiant Squid says: Have to get it!Avatar Imagehoras1 says: One follow -up question. Why is deadly hollows not being released in Blu-Ray 3D? Part 1 Just missed out being released in 3D well by now it must be done or in a vault somewhere. Part two was in 3D and their is no reason that it can not be shown on 3D TV'S. Parts 1 and 2 should give people a choice. DVD or Blu-Ray. Then If you want it a 3D vesion. They both use the same process . Many Discovery programs were remastered in 3D, to my shock they looked better than I could have believed and they were shot in 35mil.when 3D was a pipe dream for home intertainment. The Parts 1 and esp 2 could easily made for 3D TV. I personally will not purchase anymore Harry Potter Movies until it is released in 3D. In Fact all of the 8 Harry Potter Films could be made into 3D. Or how about a directors cut that might have lasted 3 hours. It could be done on all the films instead of hearing from the trio the same thing over and over. Do you think that would make them even more money. But I guessed that that would be to far sited . They all said how many great moments were taken out of part 2 now that would be worth purchasing don't you think? I know that it is a little off topic but if you can take a 10 year old show and make great 3D whats the Problem. I think you are right that the I-MAX you see it in might make a difference. horas1
