One day I may buy your narration of the HP books. I'm sure I will enjoy them as much as the Jim Dale version. It would be nice to have diversity in the narration. I'm so glad that you were born !!! What would the world be without you ?? Thank you for all the joy and inspiration you brought into my life - you reminded me that the most important thing to remember is that there is always something in this world to be curious about - even if things look bleak. Thank you for sharing your story with us. Moab Is My Washpot and my HP box set are two of my most treasured possessions.Avatar Imageselenialovegood says: Happy birthday, dear and sweet Stephen! Thank you for your wonderful narration of the Potter books it is truly amazing!Avatar ImageCorruptedNethicite says: Happy Birthday Mr. Fry!!Avatar Imageprofessor_potter says: Happy Birthday Stephen! I think you do a wonderful job with narrating the Harry Potter books!Avatar ImageMoonlitFox says: Happy Birthday!!Avatar ImageBeazle says: His are the authorised versions of the audiobooks not least because he is a friend of Jo and she was present throughout his recording. It is a great pity that the comparatively very few textual differences in the American text, caused a decision to be made that Jim Dale read those. He did a decent enough job but his readings are simply not in the same league as Fry's.Avatar Imagehpyoda says: Happy Birthday to the perfect Harry Potter narrator and a thoroughly good chap! I've listen to the 100 plus CDs pretty well constantly in my car on the way to work for the last few years. By the time I've finished them I'm ready for a rerun. Only problem..Prof McGonagall isn't given a Scottish accent and Tonks has a voice out of 'Last of the Summer Wine' (doesn't complement Lupin's). What am I complaining about...he is a genius. Everyone likes a bit of Fry! Avatar ImageEeyore says: Happy Birthday, Stephen Fry! I love listening to you reading all the Harry Potter books - they are my favoirte audio books. And I particularly enjoyed going along with you on your trek around America. Lots of fun.Avatar Imageharrypotterwitch says: happy birthday!!!Avatar ImageKiwiBrian says: Happy Birthday, Stephan Fry.Avatar Imagevicki_the_house_elf says: Happy birthday Stephen! I love listening to you read the books..........though, you do drive me mad because once I've listened to them the voice in my head has your voice for days afterwards! That makes me sound a bit mad. :DAvatar Imagewallflower1971 says: Happy Birthday, Stephen! :o)Avatar ImageMelly96 says: Happy Birthday :) Avatar Imagesiena says: @hpyoda - why should Lupin and Tonks sound similar ? Tonks is given a "Brummie" (Birmingham) accent .... "Last of the Summer Wine" is set in Holmfirth, West Yorkshire ... McGonagall might have a "Mc" to her surname - that does not necessarily imply that she was born or raised in Scotland.Avatar ImageAnaconda Beastie says: Haaaaaaapy Birthday Steph !!Avatar ImageHogwartsForever says: Happy Birthday Fry!Avatar Imagekiwimci says: Love love love love love love love Stephen Fry, how could you even compare Jim Dale c'mon. I truly do love you Stephen, Moab Is My Washpot is truly amazing and I will never get enough of QI, your wonderful mind or your many witticismsAvatar Imagekyrstalkris says: HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY TO STEPHEN! :) Sorry I commented a little late! I still think you're amazing and when I get too tired to read, I of course listen to Stephen's voice reading the books! =)Avatar ImageAsta says: Happy Birthday!!!Avatar Imagehpyoda says: @siena. Didn't sound brummie to me but then I'm just a posh southerner lol. Only my opinion but this accent just doesn't seem to 'fit'...others may disagree. Gotta disagree strongly on McGonagall though. Pottermore apparently says "Minerva McGonagall was the first child, and only daughter, of a Scottish Presbyterian minister and a Hogwarts-educated witch. She grew up in the Highlands of Scotland in the early twentieth century..." Anyway..she wears tartan (e.g. when catching Malfoy out of bed in the Philosophers Stone and at Yule Ball in GOF) and eats shortbread (offered to Harry after a brush with Umbridge in OOTP)..nuff said.Avatar ImageFresca says: Happy Birthday, Mr. Fry! Thanks for entertaining so many of us!Avatar Imagesiena says: Okay, you have more information about McGonagall ... I'm not on pottermore (yet) ... but she offers Harry Gingernuts not Shortbread in OoTP ... okay, I'm being annoying here ... we both agree anyway that Stephen's reading is superb - and that's most important :)Avatar Imagehpyoda says: Ah ha yes....Disk 7 Track 51...0.49....a Ginger Newt...in a Tartan Tin though! (enough already!). Agreed siena Stephen's reading is what it's all about....magical!Avatar ImageGiant Squid says: Happy birthday Stephen!
