The AP is reporting that Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) will receive the Trevor Project's Hero Award at a ceremony in New York City this June.
Radcliffe has been a strong supporter of the Trevor Project for the past couple of years, an organization "for suicide prevention efforts among gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered youths."
In response to the announcement, Radcliffe told the AP:
"It's fantastic. The fact that they think of what I've done by promoting awareness of the Trevor Project itself and the issues that it works to promote and help is a great honor."
The Trevor Hero Award is presented to individuals who have served as an inspiration and increased visibility and understanding of the LGBTQ community. Past recipients include Vanessa Williams, Nathan Lane, and screenwriter Dustin Lance Black.
Harry Potter and Dan, what a nice twin couple of young loving and caring rolemodells
both are very concerned about others and do loads of things to help people survive and have a happy live. Go Dan go, you are great and inspiring.

Awesome for Daniel, but also kudos to the Trevor Project for honoring a straight guy for all he’s done – it’s frustrating sometimes when causes feel they should only honor insiders, when sometimes others actually do more for them.

Congrats Daniel, you deserve as others would have thought it a risky move for your career. Which is obviously nonsense, death to prejudice

We have to be so proud of Daniel, he is doing wonderful things. I admire his courage and determination, if more young straight actors were so brave and took themselves less seriously like Daniel does, this would be a better world. Lets hope they take his example and start helping too.
Congrats,Dan! You’re great!
