We knew it was happening, but it’s good to hear it officially: The Leaky Cauldron will most definitely be a part of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter Diagon Alley expansion. In a discussion between Harry Potter set designer, Stuart Craig, the President of Universal Creative, Mark Woodbury, and the Vice President of Universal Creative, Dale Mason, a few details were revealed about The Leaky Cauldron, as well as the Hogwarts Express ride:

The biggest announcement was the formal confirmation of The Leaky Cauldron restaurant. Said Craig, “It’s another great opportunity to walk from one space to another to experience the whole thing. We were able to put detail into the ceiling, encouraging people to look up.” Added Woodbury, “It’s a 360 degree experience.”

There was also mention of the Hogwarts Express train. Said Mason, “The journey from Kings Cross to Hogsmeade is where Harry met Ron and Hermione. You are going to step onto the platform. There will be that amazing, gleaming train. You can board it and take the journey to Hogsmeade.”

“When you get off at London, the first thing you’ll be able to do is walk through the incredible London set. And the level of detail ’ although the same depth of detail in Hogsmeade, it’s totally different ’ A mural mountain village [versus] an urban city.”

You can watch a video of the announcement here or below. Many thanks to Hypable for the tip!

Avatar ImageWON_TWO says: It'll be real cool if they can rig the brick wall to open up onto Diagon Alley... Avatar ImageMad But Happy says: I wonder if they would actually put hotel rooms in the 2nd floor of that building. You could win a contest to stay at the Leaky Cauldron and get first access to the rides in the morning. Kind of like how Disney has that hotel room in Cinderella's castle.Avatar ImageLa La Toadstone says: Wow!!!!! This is going to make my 60th birthday in three years out of this world!!!! @Mad but Happy: What a fabulous idea. Someone on Facebook was suggesting a similar thing with a bed and breakfast Burrow.Avatar ImagePollyC says: I am already looking forward to re-visiting the Wizarding World in Orlando, since my last trip in 2011 was a dream come true. The plans for London, the Leaky Cauldron, the Hogwarts Express, and all of the details in Diagon Alley sound even beyond my wildest dreams!
