David Yates (director of Harry Potter films 5-8 and the Fantastic Beasts series) is finishing up his work on a live action Tarzan, in post-production and set to be released next year. Actor Christopher Waltz recently said that David Yates’ film is to be unlike any other Tarzan recreation.

The live action Tarzan takes place a few years after Tarzan has moved to the city to live with Jane Porter. Tarzan returns to the jungle that was once his home to investigate a mining encampment. Yibada reports:

Waltz is playing the role of Captain Rom in Yates’ upcoming film.

Among the film’s elements, Waltz pointed out the historical aspect of the film, which would remarkably separate the film from the other “Tarzan” films. Aside from this information, Waltz had also admitted that he had not seen the film yet.

According to Hey U Guys, the film would see Tarzan go back to the jungle several years following his stay in the city to live a modern life with Jane Porter. Aside from Waltz, the forthcoming film also stars Simon Russell Beale, Casper Crump, John Hurt, Djimon Hounsou, Ella Purnell, Samuel L. Jackson, Margot Robbie as Porter and Alexander Skarsgard as Tarzan.
