Thursday marked the much-awaited release of the seventh episode in the Star Wars saga, and fans managed to break records held by Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.

Ticket sales in the U.S. and Canada totalled $57 million, grossing higher than Potter’s $43.5 million in July 2011.

Domhnall Gleeson (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2) also appears in the film as General Hux.

The opening weekend – according to LA times – is predicted to gross between $180 million to $220 million in the United States, which could mean it breaks the $209 million record held by Jurassic World (June 2015).
