Robert Galbraith’s (aka J.K. Rowling) Career of Evil: A Cormoran Strike Novel has won the Audie Award for “best audio in the mystery category”.

Rowling is giving the credit to Robert Glenister the voice behind the audio book.

AudioFile Magazine has celebrated the audio book and its reader.

The real-life pacing and vocal differences between the rough-hewn, older Strike and the younger Ellacott bring their scenes particularly to life. And Glenister’s use of a flattened, even tone for the sections that take place inside the mind of the killer adds chillingly to the tension.

Career of Evil was published in October of 2015 and has been critically praised as well as nominated for various awards. As The Leaky Cauldron previously reported, it was also recently short listed for the Theakstons Old Peculiar Crime Novel. The winner will be announced in July. The Crime Vault describes the award, saying:

The winner will be announced at an award ceremony hosted by broadcaster Mark Lawson on 21 July on the opening night of the 14th Theakstons Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival in Harrogate.

The winner will receive a £3,000 cash prize, as well as a handmade, engraved beer barrel provided by Theakstons Old Peculiar.
