Speculation about Harry Potter and the Cursed Child film has ignited a lot of discussions and whether Daniel Radcliffe would be willing to reprise his role as Harry is probably one of the biggest questions a fan of the Potterverse can have at the moment. According to Hollywood Reporter, Radcliffe’s return is not completely out of the question.

“I’m never going to close the door; that would be a stupid thing to do,” Radcliffe told Hollywood Reporter at the Deauville Film Festival, where he was awarded the Rising Star award. But before you start to celebrate too much, note that Radcliffe also said that he realizes that at the moment he is too young to play Harry in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and that “even in 10 years’ time I would still feel strange about going back to it”.

According to the Hollywood Reporter interview, Radcliffe hasn’t seen Harry Potter and the Cursed Child yet but believes that Jamie Parker, who has received good reviews of his performance, could transport his role to the big screen as well. He also says he is in the dark about Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, but trusts that Eddie Redmayne, being an Oscar winner and all, has everything in control.

At the beginning of the summer, Radcliffe wrapped filming Jungle after a four-month shoot in Australia and Colombia. For the film, which is based on Yossi Ghinsberg’s memoir about an Amazon trip gone wrong, Radcliffe had to go on a demanding diet to gain the look of an adventurer who has been lost in the jungle for weeks. Radcliffe told Hollywood Reporter that he started dieting only four weeks before the shoot to get the look just right:

“It was hard physically because I wasn’t really eating. We were doing very long days and I was operating on not very much food”

While waiting for the release of Jungle and the shooting of We Do Not Forget (of which we reported earlier), Radcliffe is spending his time working on a script that he hopes to direct in the future. Citing Martin McDonagh, the director of Seven Psychos and In Bruges as an influence, Radcliffe says that “If I can be a poor man’s Martin McDonagh, I’d be very happy.”
