J.K. Rowling and Julie Walters Make ‘Most Inspirational Over 50’ list

Co-op Funeralcare recently conducted a survey asking people around the United Kingdom to whom they believed were the most inspiring British public figures.  According to Herald Scotland, J.K. Rowling and Julie Walters made the top ten, along with Her Majesty the Queen, Helen Mirren, Rod Stewart, Joanna Lumley, Stephen Hawking, Mary Berry, Carol Vorderman and finally Sir David Attenborough.

Considering Rowling has written seven Harry Potter books, several companion books, the Comoran Strike detective series and The Casual Vacancy novel, we’d say she deserves it!

She also created Lumos, a charity that helps children in need, is President of Gingerbread (a charity for single parents), as well as Anne Rowling Regenerative Neurology Clinic – a clinic for patients with Multiple Sclerosis and other neurodegenerative diseases. With all of that charity work, as well as giving the world the Potter universe, she certainly deserves her spot in the Top 10 Inspirational British Figures over 50.

Julie Walters (Molly Weasley) also made the top ten, which is no surprise given her CBE status and countless Golden Globe, BAFTA, Olivier and Emmy awards, along with her Academy Award nominations. If her role as Mrs. Weasley taught us anything, it’s that Julie Walters is a wonderful actress, and a wonderful woman!
