The Quarry Theatre in Bedford will be bringing J.K. Rowling’s ‘The Tales of Beedle the Bard’ to life in a stage adaptation. Three of the five tales from the book are to be recreated for the performance. The only story definitively announced to be included is ‘The Fountain of Fair Fortune,’ but hints were given about the others in the Quarry Theatre’s description of the show, which states:

“Find out the origins of the Harry Potter’s cloak of invisibility, discover why there’s no point trying to outsmart Death and learn the secret ingredients to success as we explore three of these classic tales.”

From this we can guess that ‘The Tale of the Three Brothers’ is likely to be one of the other stories portrayed, but the third remains a mystery.

The show is to be geared towards family and children, so all are welcome. The theatre is also encouraging everyone to attend in their best Harry Potter themed costumes, even offering a chance to win prizes for those who do.

Even though Rowling did not contribute directly to the script for this performance, Warner Bros. Entertainment has given the Quarry Theatre permission to use the Harry Potter name. We can only hope the show will be an accurate representation of Rowling’s creative and clever compilation of children stories from the wizarding world.

The hour long show will be performed from Dec. 21st to the 23rd at 7:30 pm, with a matinee showing at 2:30 pm on the 23rd. You can purchase tickets to the show and read the full description of the performance on the Quarry Theatre’s website.
