Alison Sudol celebrates another birthday December 23rd!
We know and love her as Queenie Goldstein, sister of former-Auror Tina and one half of our favorite new couple. She is perfect as the bubbly, friendly New Yorker, who boldly insists any talk of Hogwarts being the best school of witchcraft and wizardry is “hogwash,” but also gently commiserates with Newt over his failed friendship with Leta Lestrange.
Sudol lights up the screen as Queenie, deftly portraying her skill as a legilimens, and the result is both scene-stealing and magical. J.K. Rowling recently tweeted:

She may be fallible–who isn’t?–but she’s a kind-hearted Pukwudgie, and that comes through in Sudol’s portrayal. In an exclusive with the Leaky Cauldron, Sudol spoke to her personal connection with the character:
“I think she has a real joy to her. When I’m at my happiest and least self-conscious which you know, we all have days where that happens and days where it doesn’t happen. But I really can find adventures in anything. I just love having fun ’cause if you have the choice between not having fun and having fun, I’d much rather have fun. And with Queenie, I’m kind of required to be in that head space. Because she’s just so in love with this adventure that they’re on. And I think I love people and so does she. And there’s a lot to her. I just try to scrape away the sort of stuff that doesn’t feel present or joyful or free ’cause there’s just a freedom with her. It’s not all joy. Sometimes she’s upset, sometimes she’s angry, but she’s a hundred percent present.”
She doesn’t have any other projects currently lined up, but we hope that’s because she’s cleared her slate for more adventures in the wizarding world. Leaky wishes Alison Sudol a fantastic birthday and hopes, along with all the fans, that it is full to overflowing with all of Queenie’s happiness and joy!
