Ralph Fiennes Joins the Cast of ‘Holmes and Watson’

Ralph Fiennes, who Potter fans love to loath as Lord Voldemort, has joined the cast of Sony’s upcoming Sherlock Holmes comedy, Holmes and Watson which stars Will Ferrell as Holmes and John C. Reilly as Watson.

Although filming has begun in London, writer and director Etan Coen, has yet to reveal the part He Who Must Not Be Named is playing, but sources say that both he and co-star Hugh Laurie will take on the roles of two familiar Sherlock Holmes characters.

Most recently Potter buffs have seen their favorite villain in the Coen Brothers 2016 comedy, Hail Caesar,  where Fiennes played the part of dashing 1950’s Hollywood director Laurence Laurentz. He also voiced the character of Alfred Pennyworth in the upcoming Lego Batman Movie.

Fictional private detective, Sherlock Holmes, was created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and first seen in print in 1887. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, Sherlock Holmes is the most portrayed movie character in history. Recent examples are Harry Potter films studio Warner Bros. two successful renditions of the detective’s tale on the big screen in 2009 and 2011 in addition to the popular BBC adaptation for television starring Benedict Cumberbatch.
