British production designer and longtime Harry Potter collaborator, Stuart Craig received the nomination for Best Production Design for his magical 1920s New York sets and Colleen Atwood received the nod for her magnificent jazz age costume design.

Stuart Craig has been previously nominated for four Harry Potter related Academy Awards including Best Art Direction for Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone , Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and Deathly Hallows Part I and II. Colleen Atwood has three Oscar wins to her credit from 2002, 2005 and 2010 as reported by Leaky earlier this month.

In addition to the Fantastic Beasts recognition, the animated film, Kubo and the Two Strings, voiced by Harry Potter alum Ralph Fiennes, is nominated for Best Visual Effects and Best Animated Feature. The Lobster, starring Colin Farrell, who Potter fans now know as villainous wizard, Percival Graves, from Fantastic Beasts, was nominated for Best Original ScreenPlay.
