Peter Capaldi has recently announced that he will be saying farewell to his role as the Doctor on the television series Doctor Who this coming Christmas. This announcement has raised the question of who will take over the role after his departure. Many fans of the show have said that a female Doctor is long overdue and that a women should play the next Doctor. Capaldi seems to agree with those vying for a female Doctor, he even has a certain actress picked out for the role. Capaldi believes that Frances de la Tour (Madame Maxime) should replace him as the lead on the show.

If cast, Frances de la Tour would be the oldest person to ever possess the role at 72 years old. She is 17 years older than William Hartnell who originated the role in 1963. Hartnell was 55 when he was cast, as was Peter Capaldi, but Hartnell currently holds the record of the oldest person cast in the role due to him having been a few months older than Capaldi when cast.

While this may only be Capaldis opinion, casting a female in the role would be an important decision for the creators of the show to make. It would also be a huge role for Frances de la Tour if they do decide to cast her, since the role of the Doctor is very famous and sought after by many. So, good luck to you, Frances!
