Katherine Waterston, of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them fame, is a busy woman of late. She’s currently involved in a number of projects in addition to the filming of our favorite upcoming sequel. She lent her voice to the audiobook of friend Katie Kitamura’s novel, A Separation, and she appears in a new photo promoting her film, Alien: Covenant.

Wizards and What Not describes the novel as follows:

“A woman and her husband decide they no longer love each other, and agree to separate. But she’s reluctantly gets dragged back into his drama after he goes missing in a remote part of Greece. As she searches for her ex-love, she realizes she knew less about him than she previously thought.”

The novel sounds intense and intriguing–perfect for Waterston’s strong, earnest voice. Kitamura agreed, friendship notwithstanding. She told Entertainment Weekly:

“When she agreed to do the audiobook, I was completely thrilled. She’s not only a brilliant actress, she’s also incredibly, ridiculously smart, and I knew that her interpretation of it would be spot on.”

And, in related news, Waterston revealed that she purchased the movie rights to the book. So it’s entirely possible we’ll be seeing her attached to another film project sooner rather than later!

As for her next onscreen appearance, Yahoo Movies UK tweeted a photo of the Alien: Covenant cast, which includes Waterston.

According to previous Leaky coverage of the sci-fi thriller, Waterston stars as “the strong female protagonist type that we’ve come to know and love: Daniels. She follows in the footsteps of Sigourney (the first four Alien films) and Noomie Rapace (Prometheus).”

So in Ridley Scott’s follow-up to the prequel, Prometheus (2012), the Alien story continues, and Imdb.com gives the following synopsis:

“The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discover what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world. When they uncover a threat beyond their imagination, they must attempt a harrowing escape.”

Alien: Covenant is set to release in theaters May 19th. Also, the novel, A Separation, and audiobook are now available in stores. To read the full article on Waterston’s narration, click here.
