Tom Felton has signed on to a new movie project that we know very little about, and isn’t even titled yet. None the less, most of us don’t care because we’d go to see it just for Tom. Not because of its genre, writing or cinematography, no, just to see Tom.Many Harry Potter actors have worked in independent films, bringing them more support and publicity. It is safe to say that this film will benefit the same, in addition to Tom’s great acting skills.

The “war hero drama” tells the true story of Iraq War Hero, Megan Leavey, and her dog, Rex. Leavey was a Marine and a part of the K9 bomb sniffing unit. She and Rex formed an inseparable bond as they took on over 100 missions on 2 six-month tours, before being wounded by a detonation. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Kate Mara is playing Leavey, and Tom has signed on to play a veteran dog handler.

The Hollywood Reporter says of the film:

Mara is playing the Marine, while Edie Falco is on board to play her mother.

Felton will play a veteran dog handler.

The film will shoot in Spain, South Carolina and NY.

Gabriela Cowperthwaite, the helmer behind the documentary Blackfish, is directing the drama that centers on Leavey, a Marine in a K9 bomb sniffing unit in Iraq, and the bond with her dog, Rex.

They also highlighted another film the Tom as been cast in, United Kingdom. He will complete this project before working on the war hero drama. The Hollywood Reporter gave a synopsis of this project as well:

Felton is shooting United Kingdom, joining Rosamund Pike andDavid Oyelowo in the period interracial love story being directed by Amma Asante.

Written by Guy Hibbert, the script tells the true story of Seretse Khama, a member of the royal family in the country of Bechuanaland, now Botswana, who fell in love with a white English commoner.

Felton will portray the posh and polished district commissioner to Bechuanaland who wants to prevent Khama from getting married.
