PotterCast is back–again! Within the last 6 months or so, so far PotterCast has released  an episode approximately every month, and is working on coming back more frequently–progress, YES! The last episode of PotterCast was a live recording from GeekyCon. This episode picks up where GeekyCon left off, talking more about Harry Potter and the Cursed Child (canon? sanctioned fan fiction?) and discussing Pottermore and J.K. Rowling’s new ebooks, Pottermore Presents

Episode 260 — Hogwarts: An Incomplete and Unreliable Guide, “PotterCast meets to discuss and theorize old and new information in one of three new volumes from J.K. Rowling and Pottermore,” can be listened to at this MP3 link, and downloaded on iTunes!

Beginning with details and updates about Con of Thrones and LeakyCon 2016, it is reaffirmed that the first-ever Game of Thrones fan conference and the rebirth of LeakyCon are both going to be amazing events unlike any other fans have ever attended. This includes (but certainly not limited to–because there is so much happening!) “Open at the Close” returning to LeakyCon 2016. This means conference attendees get the new Wizarding World Hollywood all to themselves from 7:00-10:00 PM. Even more exciting–there are still tickets available for each conference! Get them quick, LeakyCon is coming–just around the corner!

As the title of the episode suggests, the podcasters tackle Hogwarts: An Incomplete and Unreliable Guide, one of the three Pottermore ebooks. Once again, Cursed Child’s fit within Harry Potter canon is questioned compared to the canon presented in the Pottermore books. The PotterCast crew discusses that fateful night at Godric’s Hollow, Time Turners, and the Department of Mysteries.

Delving into Hogwarts: An Incomplete and Unreliable Guide and its rich detail of back story and canon, the podcasters spend time discussing Blue flame, Hogwarts Ghosts, and the Hufflepuff Common Room! Finally–details about the most forgotten (and possibly the best, to my personal bias–hush John Noe!) house of Hogwarts. The Hufflepuff common room is cozy, homy, and speaks to the welcoming nature of Hufflepuffs. It is amazing.

Hogwarts: An Incomplete and Unreliable Guide includes details about the Wizarding World that most fans would never think of–including plumbing and vanishing bathrooms. Really–why was Salazar Slytherin’s Chamber of Secrets accessed through a sink in a girls bathroom?

Harry was almost a hat stall, but not really. However, Hogwarts houses have become a part of our identity as fans. However, it can be extremely difficult to label someone with one house when many of can identify with more than one. The PotterCast crew discusses Hat Stalls, and catch a few inconsistencies between early J.K. Rowling interviews and the more recently released content, concerning McGonagall, Pettigrew and maybe not Flitwick as Hat Stalls.

Hogwarts: An Incomplete and Unreliable Guide also gives new and incredibly interesting back ground to Pensieves. Pensieves are personal, like a wand, and buried with a witch or wizard. However, the Hogwarts Pensieve is different–it’s used by all the headmasters and headmistresses of Hogwarts–a powerful resource. The podcasters discussed this, Hogwarts’s portrait lore, and whether or not the Room of Requirements was a casualty of the Battle of Hogwarts like Fred Weasley–kleenex please!

PotterCast #260 is now available on iTunes and at this MP3 Link! More discussions like these will take place live at LeakyCon 2016!
