Olivier award winner Noma Dumezweni added to the list of accolades she’s received for her performance in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, picking up the Best Actress award at the 6th annual Mousetrap Awards, according to What’s On Stage.

Mousetrap Theatre Projects, the theatre education charity behind the awards, tweeted Dumezweni’s response to the win:

In addition to the continued recognition for her outstanding portrayal of Hermione Granger, The Stage reports that Dumezweni has been announced as an ambassador for “The Stage Supports,” an initiative which aims to support performing arts careers. The Stage describes elements of the program as follows:

“These [initiatives] include The Stage Scholarships, which provide £500,000 of performing arts training, a nationwide critic search and other awards schemes celebrating technical theatre, stage management, drama school graduates and Edinburgh Festival Fringe performances, as well as The Stage Awards.”

The first awards ceremony will be held in September, with awards honoring the notable debuts of actors, designers, writers, and composers. The five ambassadors, including Dumezweni and Cursed Child producer Sonia Friedman, will present. Of the opportunity to support up-and-comers in theater, she said:

“I’m very honoured to be an ambassador of The Stage Supports. Having not got into drama school I am fully aware of the importance of taking advantage of as many opportunities for support as you can when you’re starting out as an actor.”

And though she may have taken a difficult road to success, Dumezweni is thriving now. Leaky recently reported that she will soon branch out into television, starring in the upcoming BBC2 and Netflix series Black Earth Rising, scheduled to air in late 2018.

She will reportedly play a significant role in the eight-part political drama, and we look forward to seeing her dominate the small screen in the same way she’s “rising” through the ranks of accomplished stage veterans.
