Box Office Mojo reports that Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire overtook Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith to take first place in worldwide 2005 box office receipts, with a total gross of $850 million. Thanks to Ashton and Jamie!

We told you about the autographed copy of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince that J.K. Rowling donated to be auctioned for the charity Peace Hospice. The auction closed today, and the winning bid was £4500 — that’s $7,965.45 according to today’s exchange rate. Congratulations to the winner, and thanks to Neil for the tip!

The Daily Record reports that Harry Potter will be one of the main themes of the annual science festival organized by Cambridge University. During the festival, which will run from March 15-26, “experts will examine weighty topics such as broomstick flight, the invisibility cloak and whether owls could deliver the mail.” Thanks, Diane!
