Back

Wizard School V-Neck Vest - Ladies 12 - Back

Cast on 108 sts on size 5 (3.75 mm) needles. Work in K1P1 ribbing for 2.0” (5.0 cm)

Change to size 7 (4.5 mm) needles and Stockinette stitch. Knit 1 or 2 rows in the main color then add 1/2/1 stripe pattern in your house color.

Continue in main color and work even until piece measures 11.7” or 29.7 cm (76 rows), excluding hem.

Armhole Shaping

Cast off 11 sts at beginning of next 2 rows. Dec 1 st at each end of every alternate row for 22 rows until 64 sts remain. Continue until armhole measures 9.8” or 24.9 cm (64 rows), with 64 sts remaining.

Neck Shaping

Work both sides at the same time. Work 17 sts. Slip the next 30 sts to a holder. With a second ball of yarn, work remaining 17 sts. Dec 1 st at neck edge every row twice, until 15 sts remain.

At the same time, when armhole measures 9.8” or 24.9 cm (row 64), start shoulder shaping.

Shoulder Shaping

Cast off 7 stitches at armhole edge twice, then cast off the remaining 8 stitches at armhole edge.

Front

Wizard School V-Neck Vest - Ladies 14-16 - Front

Cast on 108 sts on size 5 (3.75 mm) needles. Work in K1P1 ribbing for 2.0” (5.0cm).

Change to size 7 (4.5 mm) needles and Stockinette stitch. Knit 1 or 2 rows in the main color then add 1/2/1 stripe pattern in your house color.

Continue in main color and work even until piece measures 11.7” or 29.7 cm (76 rows), excluding hem.

Armhole Shaping

Decrease for armhole at both ends, as for back. Continue until armhole measures 4.0” or 10.16 cm (26 rows), with 64 sts remaining.

Divide for neck. Work both sides at the same time. Work 32 sts. With a second ball of yarn, cast off the next stitch and work remaining 32 sts.

Neck Shaping

Decrease 1 st at neck edge of next row, then every 2nd row 12 times, then every 3rd row 4 times, until 15 sts remain.

Work even until armhole measures 9.8” or 24.9 cm (64 rows).

Shoulder Shaping

Cast off as for back.

Shoulder Seams

Sew fronts to back along shoulder seams.

V Front Neck Single Band Collar

Change to size 5 (3.75 mm) needles. Neckband is worked in 2 pieces.

With right side of work facing, pick up and work (starting at bottom of front neck) 35 sts from right front neck edge, 4 sts from right back neck edge and 14 sts from back neck holder to center. Total 52 sts.

Wizard School V-Neck Vest - Ladies 14-16 - Single Neck Collar

Work 1.0” or 2.5 cm (8 rows) in K1P1 ribbing. For the original school vest, place a 1/2/1 stripe pattern centered on those 8 rows. There is no stripe pattern in the new style vest.

Cast off loosely.

Work the left side the same way as the right, picking up the back neck stitches first.

Armhole Ribbing

Knit on size 5 (3.75 mm) needles.

With right side of work facing, pick up and work 144 sts along armhole edge between side seams by picking up one st for every armhole cast-off st and one for every row.

Decrease from 144 to 106 by: P 16 P2tog (P 1 P2tog) 37 times P 15

Work in K1P1 ribbing for 0.8” or 2.0 cm (approx 6 rows). Cast off loosely.

Finishing

Sew side seams. Sew any remaining seams.

Darn/weave/sew in all loose ends.
