Wizard Pen Pal Contest

Everyone loves a pen pal and this month that’s exactly what you’re going to be. In Goblet of Fire
we learned that Hogwarts is not the only wizarding school, as we were
introduced to both Durmstrang and Beauxbatons, and according to Hermione
there are even more besides them. So here’s what we want you to do¦

Assuming the role of a student from any wizarding school, besides
Hogwarts, we would like you to write a letter to any Hogwarts student,
you think you’d be good pen pals with, and tell them in 500 words or
less what life is like at your school.

Tell them about your friends, your enemies, the prank you pulled on your
transfiguration teacher, or the mishap that made dinner an hour late
one night. Tell them what you do in your free time, what class you’re
least looking forward to, or what the view is like from your dormitory
window….whatever you would write to a friend to give them a peek into
your school. Be sure to include the name of your school and its general
location. Good Luck!

General Rules:

• Anyone 13 years of age and over may enter the contest, including staff members who are not involved in the judging process.
• One entry per person.
• All
  submissions must be the original work of a single contestant. Any
  entries found to contain the work of another author will be
  disqualified.
• All entries must meet PG-13 standards of decency and good taste.
• All decisions by the judges are final.
• The first place winner will receive a handcrafted wand (design changes each month) and a copy of the book The Practitioners Guide to Wand Magic by William C. Wilson, both donated by Wizard Wood Wands,
  as well as 200 MyLeaky points. Second, third, and honorable mention(s)
  will receive 150, 100, and 50 MyLeaky points respectively.

• If you have any questions not answered in the FAQ, or would like to discuss this Contest, please come to the Contest Corner Forum of The Leaky Lounge.

Contest Rules:

• In 500 words or less, write a Letter to any
  Hogwarts student about life at the wizarding school you attend. As
  always points will be given for creativity, content, and cannon
  correctness. Be sure to include the name of your school, it’s general
  location, and the name of the Hogwarts student you are writing to.
• Your
  submission must be e-mailed to [email protected] by 11:59
  pm (EDT) on May 31st, with “Pen Pal” in the subject line of the e-mail.
• Please
  copy-paste your Letter into the body of the e-mail and include a name
  to be used for authorship. You may use your real name or your Leaky
  Lounge name.
