Previous Triwizard Tournament Contest

This contest idea was brought to us by the genius mind of SiriusBSirius!

The Triwizard Tournament; a contest that originated some 700 years ago
between the three wizarding schools: Beauxbatons, Durmstrang, and
Hogwarts, was meant to encourage good relationships between young
witches and wizards, but was discontinued, as Dumbledore put it, “When
the death toll mounted too high.”

So here’s the challenge to all you would-be reporters for the Daily Prophet or Quibbler:

Grab your pad and quick-quotes quill and find out specifically the stories that caused the competition to be banned.
  • Interview whomever you need to learn the truth.
  • Then
put your findings into an article complete with headline and
sub-heading, and a detailed description of the deadly task(s) and how it
    related to that year’s competition.
  • Include quotes from your sources, and tell which champion(s) were killed or seriously injured by the task(s), etc.
  • Please keep your articles to a minimum of 500 words or less.

Good Luck!

General Rules:

Anyone 13 years of age and over may enter the contest, including staff members who are not involved in the judging process.
  • One entry per person.
  • All
submissions must be the original work of a single contestant. Any
entries found to contain the work of another author will be
    disqualified.
  • All entries must meet PG-13 standards of decency and good taste.
  • All decisions by the judges are final.
  • The first place winner will receive a handcrafted wand (design changes each month) donated by Wizard Wood Wands,
as well as 200 MyLeaky points. Second, third, and honorable mention(s)
will receive 150, 100, and 50 MyLeaky points respectively.
  • Please refer to our FAQ if you are not sure of something.
  • If you have any questions not answered in the FAQ, or would like to discuss this Contest, please come to the Contest Corner Forum of The Leaky Lounge.

Contest Rules:

In 500 words or less, write a story in the form of a
newspaper article for either the Daily Prophet or The Quibbler
detailing experiences in previous Triwizard Tournaments that included
task(s) that were deemed too dangerous and led to the discontinuing of
    the tournament.
  • Your submission must be e-mailed to
[email protected] by 11:59 pm (EST) on 30th November, with
“Triwizard Article” in the subject line of the e-mail.
  • Please include a name to be used for authorship in the body of the email. You may use your real name or your Leaky Lounge name.
