This week, Max Weitzenhoffer, co-owner of the Palace Theatre in London, gave a low-key interview to Oklahoma television’s Parties Extra!  Weitzenhoffer talked about his theater’s latest project, the much-anticipated Harry Potter and the Cursed Child play.

In the course of the interview, Weitzenhoffer revealed that tickets to the play will go on sale in October.  (A website has already been established through Pottermore for anyone interested in getting added to an advanced-sales notification list.) In addition, Weitzenhoffer acknowledged that of the 1400 seats available in the theater for each performance, 100 tickets will go to children who could not otherwise afford to see the play, at the specific request of the ever-generous J.K. Rowling.

Weitzenhoffer also said that the play has not yet been cast, but the set design “should be great,” as installation will take twice as long as it does for a major musical.  “There’s gonna be serious special effects that go with that,” noted Weitzenhoffer.

The play will open in London next summer, and Weitzenhoffer said that Harry Potter collectibles and memorabilia will be available in the concession stands through Warner Bros.  Finally, he noted that “opening night will probably be pretty grand… pretty spectacular.  I’m really looking forward to it.”
